High CPU usage

My friends computer is quite slow these days and sometimes displays a message seeming to warn of "High CPU usage", - what does it meanplease ?

I get that sometimes when on-line. I think it just means that one application is using a large fraction of the CPU time.
It probably means that an application on the computer is grabbing all of the memory.

Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete (that's all three keys simultaneously) and click on the 'Processes' tab. Look under the 'CPU' column. 'System Idle Process' should probably be up in the 90s, with everything else showing either '00' or a very low figure (such as '02' or '04'). If anything there (other than System Idle Process) is showing a high figure, that's the cause of the problem.

If you don't recognise the name of the process, post again (telling us what it shows up as) and we'll try to help.

ive 52 processors running in my task manages box the lowest one is system idle at 16k the highest is firefox at 177.830 is this ok for me too the comp runs fine

My post, above, refers to the 'CPU' column, not the 'Mem Usage' one (which is what you seem to be referring to). I can see nothing abnormal in what you've reported.
