Novice Cycling

I have started cycling -I am only doing a couple of 3-4 undulating runs a day with no side effects (apart from the sore botty)
I am reasonably fit as i have no muscle ache.
How do I progress?
Do I maintain what i'm doing or as its obviously not a challenge physically how may miles would you recommend daily given that I cant move for hills so any route would present an incline (yikes) or a smalll rapid hill.
BTW -its not a chore I love it although it is for fitness reasons.
Any sage tips from seasoned cyclists would be appreciated (mountain bike)
O sorry 50 fit and female if that helps !!

Hi Dris! Was about to go to bed, but thought I'd pop on. Oh yes.....sore bums are part and parcel of your chosen exercise! Start off with 5-6 miles a day. Not bad when you split that in half for a one-way trip. Just want to tell you how brilliant it is for your legs and thighs. After having my first boy, I was horrified to see some flab. Six weeks of cycling later - not a bit of it, and never returned - so good luck. xx
