Hi everybody, as a West Brom fan who rarely gets to games due to work commitments and travel problems (I live in Cambridge) I'd be interested in any thoughts from Baggies fans about the club's managerial vacancy, with any preferences re. new appointment. Personally I would have liked Martin Jol but now he's at Ajax I'd be happy with either Derek McInnes (St Johnstone) or maybe Steve Coppell or Darren Ferguson, but please not Paul Ince! Any thoughts?

Have you thought about footymad? I am sure your fellow WBA supporters will already have had plenty to say on this - http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=550
Just as well Martin Jol's not available as it would have saved you the disappointment when he turned you down.

The other names you've mentioned are more realistic with Steve Coppell the most experienced and in my opinion most capable also.

How about Gordon Strachan? He's available after walking out on Celtic and given that Mowbray's gone there wouldn't it be a tad ironic if Strachan ended up at the Hawthorns?

Or Alan Curbishley? Not a bad choice in anyone's book I'd say and also has Premiership experience, has been out of the game for a little while and is probably looking to get back in. You could do worse than him.

Another possibility could be the guy who has recently quit Aberdeen, Jimmy Calderwood? A very experienced manager who would not be out of place in charge of WBA.

I agree with you about Ince, not good enough, and hopefully they won't go either for the likes of Ian Dowie who couldn't manage a kindergarten. And I think it would also be a backward step if they brought Brian Robson back, Hawthorns hero though he still is.

The next week or two may be interesting.
Boing Boing boingboing!
I fear our Chairman will want the cheap option and someone who is a "yes man".
Already he has forced Megson,Robson and Mowbray out with his stubborn nature so I really can't see Curbishley,Coppell,Strachan or any experienced manager coming.
That leaves Ferguson and McInnes who would cost some of the 2miilion compensation he's pocketed.
Ferguson would be my choice........However........
Aidy Boothroyd is looming large, out of work and used to be in charge of our academy......Be afraid!
By the way I'm on the footy mad board mentioned, come and join us!
