It is my theory that some slimy newspaper reporter attempted to bribe one of the medical staff to find out what operation the princess had so that he could have a scoop. There are fewer lower forms of life than newspaper reporters.

Your guess is probably better than mine

God they should know that there are audit systems governing access - who does  what

NMC and GMC (norses and doctors) NOT mentioned so I reckon it is non medical ( staff)

and the ICO ( office of the information commissioner) has been involved. Presumably on the lines of " not us, gov, someone else" The ICO does have ability to levy fines

Presumably also - someone else's pass used - oops, internal and external offences there -

Princess Anne ( 1970s) they locked the theatre doors ( they say). Queen Mother - " a certain course of action was successfully followed" - caesarian section

George VI everyone knew he had lung cancer ( Price Thomas operating and Ivan Magill anaesthetising).

I wonder what you say when you apply for your next job

"I left the hospital by mutual consent"

George V - they tried to drain the lung abscess by radiological intervention ( local and poking a doo-dah in, then X raying)

Edward VII - appendix - Treves ( elephan man) operating

er like the average ABer I dont know much about this sort of thing

Emperor Frederick III ( reigned Germany 100 d) - Virchow lectured on his laryngeal biopsy - normal - they had missed the cancer bit

wow I had to google like crazy for that one ! - sucks fingers er because they are sore, you dirty boys

I once accessed the National Insurance computer for a customer and had our data protection bod visit within the hour to see if I had the paperwork to support my search.

The guy was a weirdo who thought that the government was out to get him and had requested restricted access to all his personal information.  All it did was attract attention.

That would be my guess too. It's also possible that the staff member wasn't bribed, but just planned on offering a scoop to the highest bidder.

BHG: "There are fewer lower forms of life than newspaper reporters." - I do agree but here's a thought. They are only supplying the the needs of their readers.

The reporters are doing their jobs. The low life are those that provide the photos or documentation for money. They could always refuse and call the police.

attempted to bribe one of the medical staff

well it was audited ( detected) so the offence wasnt inchoate. ( I just thought I wd chuck that in)  - and medical staff..... I think not.

Litvinov - they detected alpha radiation in the first spessie - the labs do this routinely - and the doctors who were on TV saying they didnt have any damn idea why this man was dying were suddently replaced by ...... administrators seeking their 15 m of fame

The doctors had refused the spooks instructions to lie - the admin ( ah bless them all) had no compunction about this

If a doctor had accessed the  info and sold it, I wd have no compunction about seeking  erasure at the GMC. ( actually the GMC doesnt need a complaint, they can  self activate. And were news of the world readers because one newspaper article.....)

this comment is not too rich for AB is it?

and Victoria - -

accouchement a la reine - The great queen empresss demanded chloroform to have one of her last children (*)

whislt editorialists ( and some ABers I trow) railed  against it using the biblical injunction - "in pain shall thou bring forth (babies)"

and the great white queen empress said: " we are having the infant: we are having chlorofom"

(*) not used now, 50% have benign ( er !!) VT/ VF during it. The VF has to be benign as 50% of pts dont die. I said that in an exam and the  examiners looked at me as tho I were crazy

I have run out of accounts of anaesthetics given to Kings and Queen of the United Kingdom

Question Author

Did her gracious majesty, Queen Victoria, smoke the occasional joint, or is that just anti royalist propaganda?

She more than likely took cocaine. It was regarded as a medication by some Victorians

The Royal prescriptions exist - I dont know if anyone has looked at them or erm licked them. Cocaine was non prescription up to 1890 I think ( when it had to be taken out of coca-cola)

Crown Prince Wongo - Rudolph of the Austro Hungarian Enpire had ming ming stuffed up his whoopsie from which we conclude he had had gonorrhea, and had infected the Crown Princess. The resulting fibrosis had rendered her infertile

(" everyone knows why I cant have  children." - no that wasnt Sisi - Sisi was her crazy mother in law).

I have changed the names of drugs to shield the ears of family readers

cocaine was used as a local  anaesthetic up to the fifties ( Freud, loo-loo Freud, crazy man) wrote an anotation on it. Eye Surgeons  were keen to use it as it didnt make the patients cough their eye contents out ( ether did)

and when dentists used it, it was not unknown ( heavens!) for young ladies to allege that the dentist had had his evil way with them in the  chair !

PP, as I recall (not having been present on the day), when the medics said "In sorrow shalt thou bring forth children", Albert replied by pointing out that God Himself put Adam to sleep before creating Eve.

Did her gracious majesty, Queen Victoria, smoke the occasional joint,

well she had a munshie ( Indian teacher) who taught her Hindi and Urdu - -  and HE got lonely and er paid for - you know. and was treated for gonorrhea - not very successfully I think

whether the munshie slipped her a toke or not, is hidden from me
