Loren James should be sent home in disgrace for stomping on that Nigerian girl.
If the had been a white girl there would have been more crowd reaction and that person would probably be given their ticket home. No excuses for a professional player to vent their frustrations for her teams poor play.

I don’t think her colour is an issue but agree what she done was appalling
//players dont usually get sent home for getting sent off //

Players don't usually deliberately stamp on their opponents.
She should be sent home. Not excused for 'being young'.

She's an adult, and actions gave consequences.
Having now seen the incident on the BBC site, I think being sent home would be excessive. The yellow card was changed to red and that was the correct decision. But it hardly looked a viscious stamp on the victim's rear, just a stupid lash out by James. IMO the right decision has been made, and I'm sure the coach/manager would have had some words back in the changing room too.
She didn't stamp on her, that's an exaggeration, she stepped on her as she walked away.

I don't believe fouls are graded on some sort of 'severity' system, nor should they be.

You fouled a player, but it wasn't actually a very bad foul ....

That's a can of worms waiting to be opened as everyone and his wife debates what 'serious' means.

A foul is a foul - professional footballers have a responsibility to play by the rules, and guff from the manager about the player being 'young', 'inexperienced' and 'tired' do not cut it.
Fouls may not be graded (although they are as the ref may give a red or a yellow card) but getting sent home is presumably a team manager decision, and they can take into consideration whatever they think appropriate.
Come off it, Dave. That was deliberate.

At least she deliberately stepped on the rather fleshy part of her opponent's body - a part where, in all probability, she's received more forceful playful slaps from her boyfriend/girlfriend.
Yes it was a red, but being sent home for it? Nah. In my most humble of opinions, of course.

If you and I were playing Sunday morning football, and I kicked you in the face, would you be happy with my excuse, that I could have kicked you in the privates, which would have hurt more?

Somehow I doubt it.

This apparent urge to mitigate, minimise, and generally gloss over a professional player breaking rules, is simply not acceptable.
Comparing a kick in the face with a step on an *** ?
I agree with O_G @ 10:24. A moment of madness & she should be allowed to stay with the squad, whether she plays again in the tournament or not.
I didn't say it wasn't deliberate, I said she didn't stamp on her, she stepped on her.
Hard!

Ridiculous isn't it?

And that's the point!

When we start grading the level of pain and suffering, or intent, or any other nonsense you want to factor in, like manager has - tiredness, emotion, age, inexperience, and so on and so on ...

It becomes farcical.

A foul is a foul, and a nasty blatant inexcusable foul should be met with appropriate discipline and a message - if you can't control yoursefd, you don't play for the national team.
This from the victim;

"I'm fine, my butt is fine from her stepping on it."

"I was kind of confused initially. I didn't understand what was going on at first. There's no hard feelings. It's just a game."
A Scot moaning about the English, well I'll go to the foot of our stairs. How'd the Scottish team get on?
Very gracious of her.

Perhaps the referee should have had a chat with the victim, and then not sent the player off ....

Seriously??????

A foul is a foul, and the player was sent off for it.

The fact that the recipient is 'OK' about it, is neither here nor there.
