Keep your money in your pocket! ;-)
Who was the ABer who used to post racing tips? Haven't seen him around for ages.
Stokemaverick I think.
And I agree with the first response. Don't waste your money.
put the kettle on and open the biccies !! that's my tip !
Little look at Saphir Du Rheu e/w. Stoke Maverick did post some time back as a response on a Cheltenham thread. It must be a Stokie thing. :))
a race to just watch not bet
Don't even watch the race. It's like Russian roulette for horses.
More of that.
Strange how they who have no interest, and profess to not even watch, feel the overwhelming urge to join a thread rather than start their own anti thread. Ahh well, "no show without punch".
Pick the one with the prettiest top.
Togo - some of us live with people who do watch the race.
Don't punt more than you can afford to lose. The National has so many horses and such a long course it's near random who wins through.
my momey is on the horse I backed last year it must finish the race soon x
I have an interest in the race, I watch it every year, I don't gamble on it. Ah well, "no show without Judy!"
I always watch the National and have a cheeky fiver on it. I check out the field on the day, and have a bet on the one that takes my fancy. I won £59 in 2015. :)
Yeah, don't waste yr money on that bloodsport. So sad all those geegees dying
True story....
It was either last year or the year before, my daughter was driving over to my home, with her 5yr old son in the back.
On the way, he said something like, dont the clouds look lovely Mummy, what are they for?

We always have a small flutter on the G/N, and as she was looking at the horses name, there was one with clouds in its name, so she backed it, and it came in 1st at 33/1 or near that!
When faced with big field handicaps (and they don't come any bigger than the National) i try and whittle the number of runners down by use of the more salient stats (the 7/10 of last 10 winners up to 10/10). In the National itself, i apply a very Draconian approach - one strike and you're out. I've just spent a couple of hours - in between the live racing on ITV - doing just that and have settled on my idea of the winner; Blaklion. Old Geezer reckons it's near random who wins but, though difficult to pick the winner, the race has a lengthy history from which the list of stats is compiled. Yeah, i know that Many Clouds blew most stats out of the window, 2 years ago, but he was the exception rather than the rule. There are people that believe stats are merely coincidence. Those same people believe that when they stand on the mat at the Supermarket and the doors open, well, that's just coincidence, too. Gonna spend the next hour or so picking a few for each way purposes. Best of luck to all having a flutter - however big or small - and hopefully all horses and riders return unscathed.
Having relaxed my draconian attitude a little regarding the stats, i have also done the following horses;
Win single on Definitely Red @ 12/1
Each way on Ucello Conti @ 20/1
Each way on Raz De Maree @ 40/1
Each way on Perfect Candidate @ 50/1
Don't particularly believe the each way bets have much chance of actually winning, but a nice profit would be made if either Maree or Candidate can get into the first five home.
