I am surprised that nobody else has picked up on this ! Good result for the French courts, although I am unsure what has taken nearly two years to resolve this case.

I, and I am sure you, remember the debate that raged over this incident, and the determination of some to defend the offenders at all costs.

Well, the evidence has been heard, and the verdicts reached, so hopefully the defenders will not be back on here for a re-match.

Andy.....I wouldn't put money on that if I were you !

Lets just see shall we ?
I take your point, but as I recall, there was loads of nonsensical waffle about the commuter being provocative, you know the kind of thing, catching a train in your own country, having a black skin, that kind of thing, but surely no-one is going to try and say that the court was wrong and these morons were wrongly convicted?

Well, yeah, on second thoughts ...
Question Author
Yes Andy....what a great pity it is that the poor man choose to be black !
// I, and I am sure you, remember the debate that raged over this incident, and the determination of some to defend the offenders at all costs. //

no I dont actually
I remember people hiding their heads in their hands and saying o god why cant Brits behave when they are abroad ?

I also recollect s/o saying nothing would have happened unless viddie was available - the miscreants I thought started off denying the events

shades of Elom Azariah in Jerusalem today - he would not have been convicted without viddie - it wouldnt even have got to court

and Mark Duggan viddie important

oh and whilst I am off the subject - no viddie available ( all switched off ) for Mohd Yassar Yacoub in Bradford

ho hum lesson are but slowly learnt
I saw this on the News yesterday, glad there has finally been a resolution.
Question Author
Me too Mamy....pity it took so long though.
.

fransh joostice - he grinds slowly

a year to come to court aint slow is it ?

Some of the regulation cases I get involved with last five to seven
Must be exhausting Peter.
A satisfactory outcome.
some time ago now but I don't remember anyone defending this. Do you have any links to the threads at the time?
'Now what was said, perhaps we will never know, but instead of the black man trying to board the train was he actually trying to confront these football supporters in an aggressive way, and if he was isn't it obvious that they would try and push him away.'

Just search for 'Chelsea fans' and see the 271 post long question.
Yeah that ^^^^^one.
here's what I said in that thread ZM: "This is clear racism AOG, they would not let the guy on because of his colour and helpfully explained why. I cannot see any other explanation here. Yes they should face the law as it stands as well as any action from the club. " - so I hope I can be absolved of one of those trying to defend this.

Well researched Zacs and Ellipsis !

Yes, that was the one and plenty of excusing the fans.

Well done to Talbot on that thread by the way !
Question Author
To be fair to TTT....no, there wasn't much defending, and not you.....only the owner of that thread, misconstruing the evidence of his eyes.
That was a truly horrible incident. Good result.
Yes, good result and well done to the British police for good work with the French authorities.
One of the accused was a retired policeman .
