Maybe cast around for a herdsman to muster those donkeys and carthorses wearing three lions. Spoiled oafs with an obvious air of entitlement whose heads drop at the first sign of trouble. Pathetic to watch, made all the worse by the utter garbage that spouts from TV presenters who refuse to acknowledge failings. I nominate Old MacDonald and no, that's not...

I didn't say England should appoint a foreigner, I just said they shouldn't rule foreigners out. They've done wonders for other sports, and there's no reason why they couldn't do the same in football - *if* you pick the right person.

Is one required to have an outstanding knowledge of a subject in order to venture an opinion?

Of course not but you can't state something as 'fact' when you don't actually know that to be fact. //

You are absolutely right - please consider my statement of 'fact' withdrawn.

I will change it to a moderately held opinion though!
he could teach them the famous Klinsmann double dive!
My money would be on Sam

But what have ALLARDYCE or BRUCE ever achieved as managers, especially compared to KLINSMANN? We need a winner in charge
Question Author
Under Bruce or Allardyce our team would face further years of mediocrity
Question Author
I've long thought Bruce badly needs to shed some timber. That plus the pressures of the England coach's job would make me worry bout him
Id go for Geordie Osbore he is available but he May not take it as he does not not like refs I'd imagine .

Daily Mail now reporting big Sam has got the job. Oh dear
The problem is mate the players just ain't good enough I'm afraid. The manager can make a lot of difference but in the end the players on the pitch have to perform. They just ain't hungry enough.
Well at least England should avoid relegation now.
LOL.
Well surely that is the only reason anyone appoints Big Sam.

After all, it's not to win anything.
Needs to be English but not a dinosaur like Allardyce or Redknapp

I'd have gone for Ernie Howe - he's worked miracles at Bournemouth
Yeah Ernie should do a great job, Joeluke.

psssst (Who is Ernie Howe?)
Just because you can get results out of unknowns, doesn't mean you can motivate millionaire prima donnas.

After all Woy succeeded at Fulham and West Brom, but failed at Liverpool and England.

i wouldn't look at Eddie myself.
have a care, TTT, andy-hughes got smacked down on the previous page for suggesting the players weren't good enough.

It would seem like the obvious answer to me too, but I know nothing about football; I only suspect that if an endless series of managers can't get anything out of the players, then maybe there's nothing to get.
that's how it looks to me jno.

That would be my assessment as well jno - it's the inability of Premier League players to gel as a unit that seems to me to be the issue - and I not sure that any manager can do much about that.
