...I've been a member since 1994 and have paid by monthly direct debit currently £18.75, thats £225 a year. I made a phonecall to complain, Green Flag could offer a very similar coverage for £53.50 a year.

AA won't price match but I was offered same cover for £89 for the next 12 months, preserving my Gold Membership Status

I know it's £35.50 a year more than Green Flag but its a shedload less than £225, I'll stay with the AA....What do you think

Loyalty costs you money, janzman. Go with Green Flag if I were you.
what are their respective turnout performances?

Mrs B has been with GF for years, never had a problem
Leave for Green Flag. I have full AA membership which comes with my Platignum account with my bank but I still pay for it indirectly but I would sooner Green Flag if that is what you get for22 years loyalty to the AA.
I go to bat with the AA every year, never, ever paying anywhere near what they ask.
agree with tonav - though personally I ring them up every year and they agree to match whatever price I've found elsewhere. It has to be the same cover, of course, so check what Green Flag is actually offering. My AA Gold Membership has been of zero use to me, which isn't really a great surprise.
I did not know that you had to pay to be a member here
?
backachew?

take a look at rescuemycar.com (or .co.uk...can't remember) but they are very competitive. Have been with them for a number of years now & have had to call them a couple of times & both were quick to respond to the breakdown
I think you've been ripped off for years, janzman. How many times have you called them out?
What stopping you going to your local family garage & have an agreement to keep your car in Tip / Top condition Janzman? they will check your car throughout for a one off payment, then keep their records to what your car MAY need, do not use a dealer as these can work out very expensive.

I do wonder how helpful your local garage would be when you break down 200 miles from home on a Sunday evening tbh.
It's very expensive to break down on the motorway without some kind of breakdown cover in place.
thingers, don't confuse AA with AB. One helps people all over the country and... er...
lol
That depends how good the Garage is Balders.
Well if your local garage does 24 hour breakdown cover and you are prepared to wait until they travel the 200 miles (or whatever distance) then yes, they may be a good choice.
Check you are comparing like with like.
I think both have a reputation to protect.
Do both call out third party garages ? Seems to be the norm these days.
If all else is equal, go for the cheaper quote and encourage the other to reduce prices.
I get the RAC through tesco vouchers. 48 quidsworth of vouchers for roadside, recovery and at home. for one person. Deal!
