Not sure of this screaming player's name, neither do I want to but is there any need to hear this stupid woman's noise, they it's her way of serving, B.*** If she was getting leg over it might be a different kettle of fish.

TWR!!! Really!!

If she was doing the latter im sure you wouldn't be watching and overhearing?

If she's loud, mute the sound, or better yet, switch it over, ya know it's boring anyway :P

I think you mean Maria Sharapova. I agree her noise is horrible, unnecessary and is a form of cheating. She shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.
The powers that be in tennis often chunter about cracking down on it, but they never do anything.
In my opinion it is breaking the rule on hindrance, where a player is not allowed to call out while the ball is in play. The umpires should enforce this rule and stop
(I hit submit too soon)
and stop her spoiling everyone's enjoyment of the match.
It's been a part of the game for quite a while. Never been properly dealt with so more and more players do it. Makes players such as Bouchard, Halep and Watson all the more pleasant to watch as they don't grunt at all.
Ah this is about tennis eh ? Cryptic OPs.

I read somewhere that they are trained to expel air on the hit in order to hit harder. If true I can't see how it can be considered cheating, the opponent will be focused on the ball anyway and filter out shouts.

As for spectators getting the hump, appreciate they provide finance, but they are paying for the privilege of seeing the game, not dictate it. Surely players giving their best performance is the prime concern.

Maybe ask the BBC to buy and use a grunt filter ?

Players in the past have never Screeched like this person O.G. I would refuse to play her, that would stop it.
I'd play with her.
I understand that anyone trying to hit a fast-moving ball hard will expel some air and some sound, but this woman puts an awful lot of effort into producing a full-on shriek.
She hits the ball just as hard when she's in a practice session, but doesn't make a sound, then.

Perv, can I join? lol
My bet is that the "scream" was initially for "effect" but has now become a habit, rather like footballers who continually spit.

I must try to catch some of the tennis this year before it wends again. Perhaps I'll try to tune into her game :-)
she has been told off in the past ....I make a point of muting telly when she is playing
//Players in the past have never Screeched like this person//

John Mc Enroe did, just not at other players, more so at the officials.
It seemed to help him win his game.
Now he is a revered commentator.
I heard Tracy Austin say that they are thinking of making it illegal in the juniors now to stop encouraging the habit
I always think the noise they make sounds like they're constipated...

What you on about BOO, I used the correct term.
The correct word is defecate- if you REALLY want to say it TWR, not that word!
Question Author
Oh, well if she had taken a Suppository, that would have help her Defecate & quieten the game.
