is there anywhere on the internet i can find an accurate description of what a credit controller does? My boyfriend is going for an interview as one and would like to seem like he knows what he's talking about and what things they'll expect him to do. I've looked on job sites, but they just give a brief idea if you are going to apply for the job. Thanks!

Go to S1jobs.com and click on accounting jobs.  There is a box to tick for credit controller positions.  Once the search has been done, the agencies job descriptions will come up.

Certainly when my wife was a credit controller a lot of her day was spent attempting to a) stop salesmen selling on credit to bad payers and b) attempting to extract money from those who were poor in paying up.

Some tips of the trade were things like when told that the cheque is "in the post" asking them to confirm what the cheque number was from their counterfoil.

I'd guess it's important for him to make sure they think he isn't a sucker for a sob story and yet wouldn't be too abrasive to customers - after all some of the wealthiest customers can be poor payers - that's how they got wealthy.

He might impress them if he asks a question around how effective their procedures are for limiting credit sales to poor payers - and whether their sales staff get paid commission when the order is placed or when it's paid for. (You can see where this is leading I'm sure)
