They seen to have a some form of transparent sticky looking stripes across their fronts, I imagine this is to help the ball grip to their chests when running with it. Is this a fact and if so, is it fair?

Sounds a bit dodgy to me.

The Allblacks started it about 2002 I think you will find it on all of them now it just seems to show up more on some colours
