Yes
Bit of a simplistic answer but Yes I think it is.
"is sport being ruined by money?"

no more than it was before, althought the sums might be higher.

On my IE tab at the top of the screen it just says "Wayne Rooney's fat"....
lol Craft...
yes and also being ruined by scum like Rooney
In 1965 ex- England footballers Tony Kay and Peter Swan and their Sheffield Wednesday team-mate David Layne were given life bans, jailed for four months and fined £150 for match fixing.

This kind of thing has always been around. And always will be.

Sport is being ruined by money, but not by petty criminals.
High paid players, Agents, TV Companies and us mugs by buying into it are to blame.

/// Littlewoods football pools was founded in 1923 ///
very true trigger
"perhaps since the start of Football Pools and such. Littlewoods football pools was founded in 1923"

that misses the 1915 football scandal by a few years, and i doubt it was the first.

AOG, why the start of it the pools. Do you not think people gambles on jousting ? In which case I am sure there would have been match fixing.

Greed is human nature, you can legislate against it all you like but it wont go away, you are simply play King canute.
