I am planning a tour of France for August 2006 and i have no idea which route to take. I wouldlike to see the beautiful countryside of France. I dont want to be in areas which are full of tourists.

Can anyone recommend a good route and camping sites etc.

I would like to start from Calais and drive through to the south of France.

The (N7) Natioal 7 should fit the bill.

Bonjour, You have be aware that France is a very big country and depending on the length of your holiday you are only going to see some of it. If it is countryside you want, better to pick and stay in an area of interest and do the rest next time. The south of France and most coastal areas will be more likely to be full of tourists and there is a long drive to get there. Make sure you miss the French holidays!

If you join the Caravan Club or the Camping and Caravan Club you will get a lot of info about France and camping sites. See you there!

We went to the Deux Sevre region last year - we stayed in Chef Boutonne, and it was lovely. Not too touristy and plenty to see and do.
