Morning punters. Another blank Saturday, but this is a great summer meeting over 5 days. My only advice is to avoid the horses that I have listed below as I am not hitting the mark at present. Still gotta try.
Expert Eye @ 5/2 2.25 Good.
Home of the Brave @ 7/1 3.00 Good.
Vibrant Chord @ 13/2 4.45 Good.
Ghadaayer @ 15/2 5.15 Good.

£1.00 E/W Acca. 6 X 30p doubles. 4 X 30p Trebles. Pays £2k or so if all came in. I have got B.O.G so the odds could be enhanced but wont get worse.

Have left the 3.35 Goodwood Cup race out for now but may have a look at Stradivarius off bottom weight and have a single and rev f/cast.

And, my apologies to the Captain for my earlier kneejerk reaction to his comment. I hadn't read your 2nd offering Capt, which suggests your first was made in jest. Sorry - and i've slapped the back of both my wrists on your behalf:-)

When you look at the 20/1, 50/1, 100/1 and 15/2 winners yesterday that would just about do it for most of us. :))
Question Author
There looks like a BA in there for you today Ken. Will wait until end of thread. (&_*)
Wow, never expected that! A profit at Goodwood. (Tonight's lotto should be a mere formality in comparison). £14 on, £30 back - all thanks to the first race. As per usual nothing from the (un)lucky 15 bet:-//
Ken '.... so idiotic comments like Captain 2 makes are like water off a ducks back. Quack!'

You did I take it note the ';0)))))' at the end of my post?

Take it in the spirit it was meant, like Togo did.
Question Author
I think he did on reflection Capito. We often get the disney cartoon believers with a smidgeon of animal rights thrown into the mix. Despite it being in the sports section. Hey Ho. Ken did hold his hands up.
Thanks for pointing that out Togo; and apologies to Ken, I hadn't taken in his further post.

kiss, kiss ;0))

Don't know about Glorious Goodwood, more like Glorious Mudwood. Thrown the form book away today and picked 4 that have won on soft going. At least I know that they aren't likely to be scratched, and will handle the ground. They must all have big hooves. :))

Good Omen @ 8/1 1.50 Good.
Dawn Horizons @ 12/1 2.25 Good.
Poetic Steps @6/1 4.10 Good.
Megan Lily @ 10/1 5.20 Good
£1 E/W Acca, 6 X 20p E/W Doubles, 4 X 20p E/W Trebles. Total Stake £6.00, possible £10k bonanza. Good luck if you are having a go.
when the ground becomes heavy going its a day to keep your money in your pocket
Morning all, my EW Heinz today is
1.50 Morning Suit
2.25 Diamonds Pour Moi
3.00 Barraquero
3.35 Sobetsu
4.10 Royal Household
5.20 Intense Romance

Good luck all
Captain2; perhaps we should both scroll down the thread before replying - just in case:-) :-)
Bernie, the trouble with keeping your money in your pocket is that you could be walking around lucky - and not even know:-/ Anyway, it's only £4; no side bets today.
Togo - hopefully a case of great minds - at least for 3 selections:-)

1.50; Good Omen @ 11/2
2.25; Diamonds Pour Moi @ 9/1
4.10; Poetic Steps @ 13/2
5.20; Megan Lily @ 13/2

4 placed returns £26 but hopefully all 4 (who have soft ground form) win and my account will be swelled by £3,046:-)

Good luck, all
Oh, Togo, before i forget. Further to alba's story of the winner with the big prices from day 1. The Mirror reports that she was a single mum who staked £4.20 on a series of 10p and 5p accumuator bets on 5 horses, from which she had winners @ 12/1, 50/1, 100/1 & 33/1.............................................because she liked the names of the horses. I wept for nearly an hour after reading that. I can study sometimes for up to 3 or 4 hours!! Darkroom Angel was the one who let her down for a full house and the max payout of £1m. And it was in front going into the final furlong.
Correction, she staked £4.52. Not that it matters.
Question Author
Yes Ken and the 12/1 Dark Red was disqualified but, W. Hill paid out on the first past the post promise. Does my head in too. When I persuade "She who must be obeyed" to have a go, She picks the "nice" colours or names and does better than me. Doohh.
Question Author
Nice when your first one goes in. Spencer's only ride too. That was nice to watch, looked the winner 2 out. :))
am glad the 'punter' (loathe that word btw) collected their winnings.

Ken, Mr Alba will feel your pain.

He doesn't study for that length of time tho.
I go for the names I like and if one reminds me of an ab'er, I'll have a small wager.
Question Author
Same old same old, a banging start then back to normal. Ahh well said the soul, Ahh soul said the well. Try again. Lots of withdrawn today due to the going, so minimum stakes again and lower expectations. Noticed yesterday that the football kicks off today and we usually do a lucky 15 on the lower divisions that runs all season and provides an interest all through, so need to get onto that. Will post the 4 teams later.

Withernsea @ 16/1 3.00 Good
Profitable @ 5/2 3.35 Good
Gift In Time @ 4/1 4.10 Good
Al Jazi @ 10/3 4.40 Good
£2 Acca 6 X 30p Doubles 4 X 30p Trebles £5 Stake
My ew Heinz today is
1.50 Second Step
2.25 Forest Ranger
3.00 GM Hopkins
3.35 Priceless
4.10 Carouse
4.40 Perfect Angel

Off work now til Monday so will pop down the pub and watch the rest of the meeting, good luck all
It must be annoying for you serious bettors when people win large amounts seemingly by chance. It doesn't happen often though.

I was at a race meeting in New York a few years ago and couldn't believe my luck as I picked winner after winner. I only bet small amounts, so didn't make a lot of money. It's never happened since.
Question Author
Wouldn't say it annoys me Clover, it is nice to see someone beat the enemy(bookies) , but it does make me slap my forehead. You need a certain amount of self deprecation to be able to cope with the knock backs, with the same amount of hope to balance the scale. I think I can safely say that in the main we really don't mind, we just do the wry smile and shake of the head thing.
Over 20 non-runners, ground like a bog. No wonder some folk just pick 'nice names' :-) And good luck to them!
At 6yo, Withern sea would be the oldest winner for some time but does appreciate the underfoot conditions.
Take Cover has won the 3.35 twice and does have one piece of form on soft. Loves it at Goodwood with 2 wins and 2 runner-up prizes, so hoping that will offset the going?
Sainted from a top stable, on the up and has won on both soft and heavy.
Shymkent top weight but has won in similar conditions.

3.00; Withernsea @ 14/1 (Rev f/c with Masham Star)
3.35; Take Cover @ 12/1
4.40; Sainted @ 6/1
5.15; Shymkent @ 14/1

All 4 placed nets £76 (which would be nice). All 4 winners nets £16,047 (which would also be nice - just nicerer)

Best of luck guys.
