Whatever happened to 'innocent until proven guilty'?
people in all sorts of jobs get suspended from work until a tribunal or court case decides whether or not allegations are true

I agree with Fitzer - I think John Terry is a scum of a man and guilty but my opinion means nothing.

Until he is convicted of anything, he is innocent and as such should be treated as such.
I can't understand why it has taken this long - the 'Suarez' case dn't take anywhere near as long. I'll be interested to see the result of the case with EURO 12 and the Olympics just around the corner.
Smart Suarez was an FA disciplin thig this is a court case
Ok DTD - thanks for that.
I don't think he is good enough for England any more. Too easily caught out of position against pacey forwards and usually ends up giving away free kicks.
In many forms of employment an accusation like this would result in suspension on full pay until a decision is made usually internal hearings would be postponed until after any legal matters are resolved... I am a Chelsea supporter by the way but still think for the benefit of the game as a whole he should be suspended until the results of the court case are known
Shouldn't be captain, but not because of the impending court case.
it is a sorry situation.

"It's not enough to be a great player to be a captain. You have to be a great leader who commands and shows Respect." Fabio Capello, England Manager.

i'm afraid in my opinion, the fact that he is under investigation for this at the time of going to major competition raises questions over his legitimacy. had the claims been investigated and him cleared beforehand then it would be fair to assume he could maintain the roe. however, since there are still questions over his lack of respect for a fellow professional player, and thus bringing the game into disripute, they should either bring the hearing forward to resolve it sooner, or he should stand aside as captain.
I agree with Fitzer

How can he be Captain when some players won't even shake hands with him?
its a unique situation steve. he is being investigated for criminal racial activity and he is at the forefront of english football on the world stage. i think the fa have no choice.

much better he is removed now rather than have this rammed down our necks day in and day before, during and after the competition. with every 'jonh terry' interaction analysed to the hilt.

any reason why the hearing is taking so long ? it would be in everyones best interests to conclude it quickly, that way his position over coataincy would be decisive.
A fan gets banned for life why not a player...?
Anku - I heard the trial was put back to July to put it beyond the Euro contest.
