I received an email supposedly from 'Microsoft account team' saying 'Unusual signin activity'. It said that 'a user from Spain/Madrid has just logged into your account from a new device'. It then tells you to click on Report The User if it isn't you.
Do you think this is a scam?

"If you aren't sure about the source of an email, check the sender. You'll know it's legitimate if it's from the Microsoft account team at [email protected]"
I had that, just hover over the link, scam, delete.

Sorry! It's written like this:

Microsoft account team
You need the e-mail address of the sender, if it says, "@accountprotection.microsoft.com", it's genuine, if no, delete and ignore it.
Question Author
When I try to write it, and press send, it blanks out the last bit with the address
Question Author
Thanks, I've just deleted it but opened it first. Is that still ok?

Thanks The Corbyloon, Tora Tora Tora and Buenchico
I've had a couple of these recently. In one, the sender was from a 'genuine' French newspaper address. But today's one simply was from [email protected] - so could be thought to be genuine. As suggested though, I checked my hotmail account and there was no listing of suspicious activity. If there had, I would have got a text and an email to a backup email address - and there were none.

Thanks Arrods, mine was like that
