Homosexual temptation
Probably everyone experiences sexual temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13). Sexual temptation, including homosexual temptation is not sinful. Yielding to it is (James 1:14-16).

So is james saying that giving in to sexual temptation , even heterosexual is as bad as giving in to homosexual temptation?

Does that mean homosexuals are no more different thanm hetrosexuals?
Has the church and society changed this to suit their own views over the centuries?
Is homosexuality really a sin ?

Although.

The historic Christian faith has always affirmed Biblical teaching that homosexual acts are always wrong (e.g. Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:26-27).

The Bible is clear that the only legitimate context for sex is marriage and that marriage can only take place between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:24). Sexual acts between men and women before marriage (fornication) or outside marriage (adultery) are also condemned (Matthew 5:27-28).

Which then makes you wonder are adulterers gonna be any more welcome in heaven than homosexuals? Are they perhaps in for a shock when they get there? If indeed they do at all ?

Less than 5 minutes.
It doesnt take long.
I have an extenxive database of contentious issues.

Later i might post the one about the damage women are doing to the planet through sheer laziness. If youre interested ?
Maybe do it later when everyone's around.

Tricky one though ...

... if it's correct, then we would be too lazy to bother replying to the post.

ps. I wouldn't know anything about giving in to temptation.

Ok jayne you done it now.
One of your better threads leggy,

Homosexuality is wrong, full stop. O K i know some people favour it, and it is also legal nowadays.
I know people will argue this fact, and say we can't help the way we were born. I was born hating football and maths, but I still had to do it, so no excuse there,
The rule on homosexuality have changed enomously over the past fifty years, and I am certain they were changed to suit the lawmakers,
At one time it was illegal to be homosexual, now it it is almost mandatory.
Adultery is also wrong, but if this stops you going to heaven,
then I will see you in Hell leggy.
B T W, can you save the thread about women ruining the planet, for this evening, as I am going to be busy all day,
Your perception of the religious teachings will depend entirely on your own personal morality.

I am an atheist, and I believe that the cornerstone of Christianity in general, and Catholicism in particular is guilt, and these 'teachings' can be used to back up an anti-homosexual position in a debate.

If like me, you do not believe in a God, or the teachings of the bible, then you are free to reach your own conclusions - which for me include a 'live and let live' attitude in these matters.

Morality is personal - forcing beliefs on others smacks of arrogance and narrow-mindedness, neither of which have a place in a modern society.

Now in james text he refers to sex outside of marraige as adultery.I was always of the opinion that adultery was when you were marrioed and had sex with someone other than your partner?
Loggy if you have adultered then get ready for helll , and btw wear the leather cap and studded belt.
Theyre gonna love you .

Andy im not religious myself but i find some of the things spouted bt religious types to be contradictory at best and plain nasty at worst. They say do as i say.Not do as i do .
99.9% of these religious sorts are total hypocrites, most still love to be insulting foul mouthed little cretins who thrive on insults and upsetting other people, don't they Legend!!

To this day I can honestly say I have never met a person who is true to their faith!!!

I am atheist by the way and loving it!!!
Well - I have both a harp and a fire extinguisher . . . just in case
Like your style!

Don't know where I'm going, jackthehat. May see you, or maybe not.

I want to go wherever Tyra Banks goes so that I can give her a damn good girlie seeing to, cos by that time we'll be way past worrying about Biblical interpretations.
The bible says that I'm going down.....................!
That's never presented me with problems in the past........:o)
thinks ... jackthehat sounds like my sort of guy
