If only Hamas had stayed home on Oct 7th.

These countries have been fighting for many years and will continue to do so.

Israel is invading Syria now, are they? Reminds me of the good old days when the USA invaded Cambodia because it felt like it, thus boosting the appeal of the Khmer Rouge.

I am pretty clueless about world affairs.

Over the weekend my baby brother and his oldest child were staying with me.

They were studying the world map that I have pinned up.  My brother was pointing all the countries that were financing wadrs and unrest in other countries and which countries were doing business with the. UK and USA.  It was a bit of an eye opener for me.

He studied history & politics at university and takes a keen interest in such matters.

"Israel is invading Syria now, are they? "

Why not, everyone else has.

In fact Israel has been bombing Damascus for years. I personally am shedding no tears. I would read the book at the link in the interest of history (we had a imperial past: who know?) not as an excuse for more of the old "we're no better than" blah blah blah"

how exactly is this going to help?

couple more dead terrorists can't hurt.

they are unfortunately members of iran's military though. if we keep assassinating iranian military leaders then what exactly do we expect iran to do?

Stop backing terrorists?

We expect them to go back to worrying about sky gods and other mumbo jumbo or, and this is a stretch, devote resources to improving the lot of their citizens.

both of those outcomes would be lovely but i think you're both being a bit naive. if we keep assassinating their leaders they aren't going to think "oh dear i suppose we should stop executing gay people"

Generally speaking I applaud firm action against evil states. We keep hearing about "escalation" but this sort of strike is probably worth several Rafah incursions.

do you want war with iran ichkeria? some people seem to.
