If you are an atheist, would you ever take part in a remembrance gathering , such as following the latest terrorist outrages in France?
If so, given your unbelief, what would be the point?

maggiebee //I believe in Jesus Christ as my saviour//

By "saviour", do you believe that Jesus will grant you eternal life?
Surely eternal loses meaning if in a "place" where the illusion of time does not exist ?
maggiebee, //it's out of respect and it matters not a whit whether I am a Christian or an atheist.//

Thank you.

Theland, there you are. There's ^ your answer.

Thank you miggle and all of you.
Yes the sound of tut tut tut comes through loud and clear.
AM STILL WAITING THELAND, YAHBOO, WHAT DO,YOU KOW?
What do you think this is? My full time job?
"Hey! It's only a bit of light conversation over a cup of cyber coffee.
No biggee"

"biggie" - you asked a pertinent question and got pertinent answers but seemed incapable (reluctant maybe) of further discussion.

...is this an admission that you're out of your depth here? (looks like it)
You ended your post with:

"If so, given your unbelief, what would be the point?"

"unbelief" is hardly an innocent or casual term of phrase.

" I'm humbled by how the army family and local community have come together."

What more needs to be said?

Yes choux. I agree.
My own father was a POW on the Burma railway for three and a half years, and given the love and esteem and respect we had for him, it is poignant that another old soldier should be forgotten, but remembered just in time for his final parade call. God bless him.
...is this an admission that you're out of your depth here? (looks like it)

Yep, confirmed.
"...is this an admission that you're out of your depth here? (looks like it)
Yep, confirmed.".

Would you care to explain what seems (to this observer) your gratuitous insult , AnswerPrancer?
Yes vetuste_ennemi, I'll happily "care to" explain:
A question was asked and answers were given, a few of which encouraged further debate or at least a return-opinion. No answers were forthcoming from the original questioner except one general response that suggested (IMO) surprise and faux innocence and just a hint of "I've bitten off more than I can chew". It is his choice as to whether he deems my last comment to be a "gratuitous insult", not yours - if you choose to categorise it that way, that is your observation.
Thanks for your lucid response, AnswerPrancer.
...any time, babes ;-)
