… as we’re constantly being told here, what’s the problem? We’ll be dead, gone and, most importantly, oblivious, so why worry about it?

naomi - I am afraid of death always was from a young age. But not death itself - the pain that may come with it - dread that.

Thats why I say when somebody dies dead quick - it is a good way to go.
Personally, I am not afraid of death, but as stated above, the pain terrifies me.
I hate the dentist.
I would love to hang around here for a while longer though, to see my family growing up, and I'm sure you all understand and share the same feelings.
But as for a long dark sleep in the future, that would be horrible, compared to the promises.
jomifli the people on my little list are definitely headed for the other place!
Well I will neve get to heaven unless I die first. :-)
The Kimgdom of Heaven is within you.
Now that was a novel thing to say by Jesus.
Only true seekers could grasp it.
Well I couldn't grasp that novel in Waterstones. You sure that Jesus wrote it ?

Glad you made it home buddy.
I have always thought that the "bright light at the end of a tunnel" was the brain, at the moment of death, remembering being born.
The bright light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming freight train.

Look forward to darkness.

Theland, //The Kimgdom of Heaven is within you.
Now that was a novel thing to say by Jesus.
Only true seekers could grasp it. //

What do you, as a 'true seeker', think that means?
I think I know what it means Naomi but I doubt that any true believer does....least of all Theland
Question Author
Jom, I agree.

jennyjoan, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to ignore you. I've no doubt we all fear the pain that may come with death, so you're not alone in that.
Naomi@ Just think about it—whenever people see in their neighborhood a group of well-dressed men, women, and children with briefcases, what is usually their first thought? Is it, ‘Oh, here come the Catholics (or Orthodox) again!’ or, ‘Here come the Pentecostals (or Baptists) again!’ No. People know that such religions do not have whole families performing a house-to-house ministry. Perhaps some religious groups send some “missionaries” for a two-year stint into certain areas, but their rank-and-file members do not participate in any such ministry.

Only Jehovah’s Witnesses are recognized worldwide for their zeal in communicating their message to others on every suitable occasion, also did you not read in all the nations the good news has to be preached first.”—MARK 13:10..

Yes, Goodlife, They're certainly recognised. They're the callers most people tend to avoid.

You're welcome to answer the question but please stop preaching and please stop quoting the bible at me. I'm influenced by neither.
Best way to die is in your sleep like my Uncle, although the Passengers on the Bus He was driving at the time were'nt very happy.
Excelling yourself yet again with with your utter rubbish, Goodlife.

I give thanks that the JWs are not a Christian sect,so we are not embarrassed by you continually making a fool of yourself on this site.

Question Author
SirOracle. according to Goodlife and his fellow believers, they are the only 'true Christians'.
Naomi .......... "They (JWs ) are the only true Christians". The word oxymoron immediately springs to my mind.

In fact if you delete the "oxy" the remaining letters more accurately describe what they are.
Question Author
SirOracle, Goodlife, who calls himself a ‘true Christian’, thinks you’re wrong; you, a Roman Catholic, I believe, think he’s wrong; Keyplus, a Muslim worshipping the very same God, thinks you’re both wrong; every Jew, also worshipping the same God, thinks you’re all wrong - and all of you, in turn, all think that he and everyone else who disagrees with you is wrong – and all because you are all arrogant enough to believe that, amongst all of ‘creation’, you, personally, are somehow special. I don’t expect some here to understand what I’m saying, but, seriously, you, as a clearly intelligent man - can you not see the utter stupidity and futility of it all? I despair - truly I do.

Love is the most important thing in this world, but religion creates more hatred and more division between men than anything ever devised. How sad that stupid, self-obsessed men allow it to blight this beautiful planet of ours so. For an atheist, who actually takes the trouble to investigate and to think it all through rationally, it’s a depressing thought to go to bed on. Night all. x
