There have been several periods since the JW group was formed in the 1870's that Armageddon was near. Why was the decade leading up to 1975 a key prediction time for the 'end'?

The latest edition of Watchtower once again makes a grim prediction. Are the leaders of the group going to be correct this time?

In short agchristie...no it doesn't. The JW's keep rearranging there predictions, and will continue long after we are dead. I wish them no harm but they are away with the fairies big time. Best ignored.

There's a wonderful line from a Woody Allen film and I am paraphrasing it here :::

" I can't get with any religion that advertises in Popular Mechanics" !
How can it have meaning? What makes a man more important than an ant ?

In the vastness of universal space, you must feels like nothing, irrelevant, of no consequence, here for a moment and gone for eternity. Life seems like an exercise in futility for you.

So go to the ant, you lazy one; see its ways and become" wise". (Prov. 6:6)

Evidently this means that a person can learn something from the lowly ant, even Scientists do learned much from Jehovah’s creative wisdom.

Yes, whether he realizes it or not, whenever a man uses a compass, generates electricity, designs a submarine, or desalinates seawater, he is in fact just imitating God’s creation.
I'm afraid I have a sort of uncomfortable feeling, that this time they might be right!

Do you think an ant believes in god, goodlife?
//Hands up those who would be more than a little bit curious to see what a new kingdom with a select group of beings would look like? Sounds good doesn't it? Doesn't it?//

What like a clique club on here ?

I've not really considered the question as to what can humans learn from the lowly ant. They are kind of fascinating, if not pesky, but one can admire how they work together.

Maybe that's just one trait us humans need to take heed i.e co-operate with each other and we will all benefit greatly! ;)
Yes, looking at the ant it may be an annoying little creature, but it has its uses.

Ants form colonies and within each colony there are three basic castes: the queen or queens, the males, and the workers (sexually undeveloped females). Yet the ant has no commander, officer or ruler. The queen is not such in a governmental sense and more fittingly can be called the mother ant, for her essential function is that of egg laying. Whereas a queen ant may live as much as 15 years, the males live only long enough to mate and then die.

The ‘wisdom’ of the ants is not the product of intelligent reasoning but results from the instincts with which they are endowed by their Creator.
Not only is their instinctive preparing for the future notable but also their persistence and determination, often carrying or tenaciously dragging objects weighing twice their own weight or more, doing everything possible to fulfill their particular task, and refusing to turn back even though they may fall, slide, or roll down some steep precipice.

Having watched many nature programmes focusing on the ant, it certainly deserves credence for its tenacity. Maybe humans should take more note of the ant!!
Hi Goodlife

// Did you not know for Jehovah’s day to come he always forewarns us. //

do you have a ref for this ? I am disturbed at the word "always"
How many armageddons have we budgeted for ?
Are Armageddon Looms being used to make 'I went To The End Of All Creation And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt' t-shirts?
Is a human being more important than an ant ?

It is certainly a higher level of creature based on ability to reason, but what criteria should be used to decide these things, and who makes those decisions ? Someone claiming to speak for a deity can not be trusted on blind faith alone for this.

For a member of any particular species of course their own is more important than another, but to some being not part of the world, would they think any were significantly more important than another. Each has it's niche in the ecosystem, some cause more havoc than others and possible prime candidates for culling.
