More an indicator of the need to beware for me.

May have to sleep on this one: being 'pi' is clearly not an indication.
Wearing one's religion on one's sleeve just seems to be a sign of insanity.
Esp if they are evangelical and wear a 'God Loves You' lapel badge.

But there are people who are religious, dont wave it around ( er their religion that is ) who are trustworthy especially in relation to religion.

Sadly no. How many sins are hidden behind a mask of piety?
I don't think it tells you a lot with regards to trustworthiness, one way or the other.

//How many sins are hidden behind a mask of piety?//

I don't go with the 'sins' bit, but hallelujah to the sentiment.
In a word - No. But although organised religion is a hotbed of lies and deceit, one cannot tar all its weak-minded adherents with the same brush. So the penchant means nothing in respect of trustworthiness, one way or the other.
I agree with Sandy don't venture into here

Really Psybbo? But you're here. ;o)

No, it's an indication of susceptibility.
In my experience.....not at all.....in fact quite the reverse.
I'm not into religion but I should think the majority of religious people are no less trustworthy than anyone else. Personally, I choose not to trust too many people regardless of their beliefs.
Sandy agreed ++

but a mask of piety is not of course a penchant for religion
more like a penchant for deceit

I have to say I was shocked by Cardinal O'Brian

"Do as I say, not as I do," is hardly a suitable motto for a prince of the church.
Yes Naomi, my first time, I think

Trustworthy character and religion shouldn't be in the same sentence...
