Ruqya is the healing by the Quran and relief of people who suffer and are stuck for years. Secondly it is a protection of Muslims

if you are suffering from the effects of black magic, jinn possession, evil eye or you feel that your life is blocked and that you cannot continue, then you might need a ruqya

the ruqya is performed by an Arab Hafez

for more information and to book your ruqya please call Abu Muhammad on 0747*******

I thought it'd be a remake of "We Will Ruqya"

well I wondered what ruqya was
and look at this !

http://daarussalaam.com/D-RUQYAH/Dindex1.htm

The yellow bits in English match the ones in Arabic
and a lot of it refers to 'sayings' rather than the book itself
so isnt as it were 'gospel truth' - see thread on who wrote the gospels

and apparently they agree it is pre-Islamic which is a surprise
that is that jinn possession, evil eye were a social construct that Islam had to cope with.
Perhaps the First Church of Answerbank has the answer. It could do with something to revive its fortunes. Bring your problems here and we shall devise something involving bananas and choirboys...

The documents are contemporary with Saints in Egypt - St Menas and Pachomius er spring to mind, going around the country side and doing like things - curing snake bite with prayers etc .

altho the emphasis is on: can the followers do it nowadays ? The original purpose seems to have been to show how holy they were.
I thought it said the Queen, too, I thought she'd started practising as a healer!
Gone back to healing... bx

It was widely believed the monarch had curative powers by reason of being anointed by God etc and George I was the last monarch to touch for the King's evil ( cutaneous TB )
Dr Johnson as a child was one of the last to be touched.
Strange how most religions descend into the realm of superstition and mumbo jumbo given time.
Don't we have a very similar thing in Christianity?

But Christianity has a proven track record while this other stuff seems little more than mumbo jumbo.
You don't think exorcism is mumbo-jumbo?
Good Grief.
Yes, it can. The Quranic text is based on the ancient hermetic wisdom. Although it isn't necessary for a person to be an Arab Hafiz, since any good audio recorded recitation of specified passages are equally effective. I have seen it myself, and also experienced the psychological effects of listening a good recitation. Checkout the recitation of "Qari AbdulBaset AbdulSamad", its wonderful. Also, have a look at the hermetic teachings in the Quran at links below:

Might listening to this help someone who wasn't of the Islamic faith?
Yes Sandy - we know that Tommy Robinson who started off Christian, bit gullible to my mind but never mind - read the Quran and was converted.

I have witnessed an exorcism and wasnt that impressed - actually it was schizophrenia presenting as demonic possession - and also a zikr, and wasnt that impressed either.

I feared as much, PP. I suppose I'll just have to live with my daemons.
no sachal

we know that the Quran is the unblemished word of God
because God told the prophet so.

I had a calling card put through my letterbox which "boasted" that a Dr Morrow could cast spells on your behalf or remove curses, the mind boggles but I was told that there are people who believe this.
Hmm I hope Dr Morrow can see the future....

taking money for casting spells is against the Witchcraft Act

not the one that burns witches - the one that has criminal penalties for taking money off the gullible.
o dammit all I meant the Fraudulent mediums act 1951
sachalsmith777, you’re new here so I haven’t opened the links you’ve given but one of them appears to be to your own website. Are you a teacher of Islam?
^^Sorry, I should have added "or any other belief system"?
