//Parliamentarians in Iran have passed a bill to protect the rights of children which includes a clause that allows a man to marry his adopted daughter and while she is as young as 13 years.//

Is this evidence of harm by religion?

Would the law, no matter what it said, be much of a deterrent if such a man was minded to abuse a child?
No - but this law enables a man to legally abuse a child. That's the point.
"Iran's Guardian Council, a body of clerics and jurists which vets all parliamentary bills before the constitution and the Islamic law, has yet to issue its verdict on the controversial legislation...."

This council may veto this bill.
Naomi's linked article above shouldn't surprise anyone even vaguely familiar with the Islamic religion. It cannot be pointed out too often that the justification for the sexual abuse of young girls by muslim men can be traced directly to the actions of Mohammed himself who married Aisha when she was aged just six years old.
Birdie, whichever way, grown men will still, albeit with the permission of a judge, be allowed to marry - and abuse - little girls. The whole thing is a complete and utter disgrace.
naomi, I couldnt agree more, the whole Islamic faith just turns my stomach!
These men would be committing rape. Shameless men...
The thing is, marriage makes it 'respectable'. Sickening.
naomi, I couldnt agree more, the whole Islamic faith is repulsive!
I think the United Nation should get involve and try to stop this from happening.
Ok, so I am repeating myself!! I'll shut up now!
I don't see how it can. Marriages are conducted in private homes in this country - some of them between grown men and little girls. None of them are legal of course - but it happens.
This repulses me.
Ratter, not to worry. I understand your frustration - and that's putting it politely! :o)
///This thread is bordering on being Islamophobic. I must insist you stop disagreeing with such practices and traditions immediately. ///

Oh dear birdie, I feel your squawkings are totally out of order. Who the 'ell do you think you are suggesting we shall stop our comments.

Get real and consider the topic. It is barbaric, repulsive and the behaviour of deranged people.

Is that Islamophibic enough for you?
sir.prize, I think you'll find Birdie is being sarcastic. In fact, I know he is. See his post at 01:07 Thu 24th Oct 2013.
Maybe naomi. But his post at 01:11 Sat 19th Oct 2013 gave no hint that he meant differently to what he had posted. I only just caught up with this thread and my reaction was that the guy was whingeing. So I said my piece.

Whether he likes it or not I regard his post as inappropriate.
Sir.prize you make it your life's work to be offended. Birdie is clearly winking at us all while he/she is typing.
If you can't see that, go to the pub more ;)
You may well be right Mojo-Jo-Jo. But coming across that comment and reading it in isolation, it certainly does give off offensive vibes.

However, the drinks are on me.
