Does "All things bright and beautiful" promote creationism and should it be sung in schools.

Well it doesn't mention Darwin's theory but it's a nice hymn and children do like it so, yes.
If "All things bright and beautiful" is true, then so is "All things dull and ugly" (to the same tune)

All things dull and ugly
All creatures short and squat
All things rude and nasty
The Lord God made the lot

Each little snake that poisons
Each little wasp that stings
He made their brutish venom
He made their horrid wings

All things sick and cancerous
All evil great and small
All things foul and dangerous
The Lord God made them all

Each nasty little hornet
Each beastly little squid
Who made the spiky urchin?
Who made the sharks? He did

All things scabbed and ulcerous
All pox both great and small
Putrid, foul and gangrenous
The Lord God made them all, Amen

I had never really thought much about it before, sigma. I guess if you pay attention to the lyrics and take them as "the truth" then it does promote creationism.

It does not worry me unduly though unless such lyrics are being used in the science class :)

And I think VHGs version very entertaining :)
Listen to it here.

Even when I was little and sang that hymn in school, I thought it was naff and sentimental.
A simple change in lyrics is all that's required..

all things bright and beautiful
all creatures great and small
all things wise and wonderful
resulted from the change in the inherited characteristics of biological populations over successive generations descended from a last universal ancestor that lived approximately 3.8 billion years ago,
giving rise to diversity at every level of biological organisation,
including species, individual organisms and molecules such as DNA and proteins.
@Ludwig Excellent! :)
