Engagement Party - Do You Give Gifts?

i am going to get a nice bottle of something as a gift either way - but do people generally give gifts at an engagement do?

Yes they do.
Whenever I have gone to one, I have always given a bottle of champagne as a gift

Something to keep ready for when they actually get married , like a small household item is normal .

Not many people bother with an engagement party, so I wouldn't know. Perhaps a bottle of champers? I wouldn't bother with anything too expensive, as engagements can last years and the wedding not even happen at all
