...but having seen this I'll need to reconsider. If an ancient Egyptian statuette can move why not a more modern Irish one?

Which is the statue's home in the east, Sandy? East of Ireland is Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland and the east European countries. Where was its home?
Question Author
East south east, then.
Margate ?
Question Author
This could be a communication from the other side and yet all some people can see is the venal or the pedestrian
The message from the other side is......made in PRC
// all some people can see is the venal or the pedestrian //

It's spinning, not walking.
Question Author
If it could find a way out of that glass case it might be walking back home to Egypt.
Just another load of guff to encourage more visitors and plenty will fall for it.
// If it could find a way out of that glass case it might be walking back home to Egypt. //

It's probably missing it's mummy.
Question Author
There's many a true word spoken in jest. The little statuette is of a sort places in ancient tombs to keep the mummy company.
Got - it!
(1) The model believes he is still in the grave (entombed) but he is still concious because the mind lives on after death.
(2) His mind can travel anywhere and was planning (past-tense) to move EAST to Anfield one Saturday.
(3) Being in Ireland he had naturally become a Livepool FC supporter (sandy excepted).
(4) But when he saw Luis Suarez bite! a Chelsea player he was shocked by his hero striker and ditched his season ticket.
(5) So shocked was he, he began spinning in his "grave", even to this day!
Easy if you think about it in depth.

I think you are thinking of a shabti, Sandy - good wiki article

but I dont think this is one - the inscription is wrong
SHabtis have a formulaic inscription undertaking (geddit) to do what they are told

whereas this one has a prayer to a God but mentions four staples,
which are used in sacrifices

The news articles up t North talk about a mummy-locum (my word) so that the spirit can reside in the statue if the mummy is destroyed.

Since the statue does not move in time lapse photos when the museum is closed, it seems very obvious to me that the milieu by day
vibration perhaps is being transmitted to the statue.
The statues rotates and the others dont because it is being boinged at its resonant frequency
Question Author
Moving during the night, when no one could see it, would be pretty pointless. I read this movement during the day as a clear message. 'I want to go home to Egypt', it's saying.
Note in the above link that objects 'walking' on museum shelves is actually a very common occurrence, with a known cause.
Question Author
"and yet it moves"
Yeah, it does.

I'm just saying we know perfectly well why it does.
Aaaw sandy! If you really believe in the supernatural, I think you are reading too much into this poor example. It's clearly a natural physical phenomenon even if the exact reason has not been precisely defined.
I cited sympathetic vibration earlier - an expansion of earlier vibration crowd-induced postings. If we now combine that with a wobbly base then that's it. Physics - the only base that can touch all points on a flat surface has 3 "feet". That's why three-legged stools or ladders are more stable than those with 1,2,4 or more. Slabs of blue-tac would stop the rotation entirely but the museum don't want it to stop even tho' they are not fiddling it.
And more - it might stop if removed from the glass case as glass is elastic and could well amplify exterior vibrations like a drum-skin.
However, unlike the statue, you are clearly immovable, lol.
Fine, carry on with your beliefs that's your prerogative but you will convince very few.
Good and interesting posting sandy.
Thank you.
Regards,
SIQ.
Amazing how quickly some people will grab onto some idiotic paranormal explanation when something can so easily be explained without resorting to some kind of spooky phenomenon or the other. This is obviously simply a case of someone using their psychokinetic abilities to have a laugh.
