Please someone explain to me what is currently exactly going on in Mali as news reports only seem to concentrate more on specific incidents. Thanks

A quick search of google brought this up. I haven’t read it all, but it seems to be a fairly straightforward explanation. I hope it helps.

As I see it, the Islam movement is trying to gain control of Mali and so spread their evil control. France seems to be the only courageous country that openly shows opposition to forced Islamic intrusion.
So, so called "Islamic intrusion" are intruding France, are they?
@ Keyplus In answer to your question,

"So, so called "Islamic intrusion" are intruding France, are they?"

The French are robust in rejecting what some might consider overt islamification. As to why they are in Mali - the fact that they were a former colonial master, the fact that Mali language is french. The concern that allowing an islamic state to form in Mali would be bad for an EU that has problems controlling the flow of migrants, and the fact they were asked to go in by the current acting President of Mali.

A regime that, amongst its other unpleasant attributes, goes around burning books deserves to be resisted forcefully.

I'm looking forward to Keyplus' answer, and attendant lack of substance.
With the barbaric destruction of ancient manuscripts, tombs, and shrines, memories of the Taliban’s appalling demolition of the Buddhist statues in the Bamiyan Valley cannot be far from anyone’s mind. Backward madmen all.
The torching of the Ahmed Baba Centre for Documentation and Research is mindless barbaric vandalism on an almost unparalleled scale. These Islamist terrorists are so utterly devoid of reason and morality that they seem to see no wrong in destroying forever the documented treasures of human-kind's past.

One of the other appalling acts that has occurred at the hands of the Islamists is the suppression of Malian music. This might not sound much when compared to some of their other indisputably worse acts, but it is an act of cultural desecration against some of the most life affirming music I've had the privilege to hear.

@Waldo - agree 100% wrt the barbarism of repressing the music.
....but music is unislamic.
Good old Pilger. That took me back. I used to read (and ho ho, actually swallow) his brand of nonsense when I was about 13.
I'd presumed the world had outgrown him. I suppose his style will always appeal to simplistic, naieve teenagers.
