Well, according to my mother you can't get into heaven unless you've asked Jesus into your life.
It's no good just believing....you have to accept him into your heart.
What a load of botox...

They are all remembered by their heirs. Thats the most we all get.

Abraham and Jacob got there, so there must be some sort of dispensation for those who did their best.

They swear an affidavit on entry to declare they had never heard of Jesus but now they heard about him they really love Jesus.
They just have to be sure they turn up at the right brand of Heaven.

Question Author
It's complicated. Jake's link seem to suggest that they were all consigned to limbo for a while until Jesus was crucified and then he went down to fetch them all before ascending to heaven.
I wonder what happened to those who never knew about him but died after he'd ascended. There must have been plenty of those. It took a while for the gospel to be spread after all. I'm sure there's a few people even today in the Amazon forest that don't know how the christian god wants them to behave.
Are they destined for eternal limbo?
|
|
No mention of limbo in the bible ludwig, I think it must have been made up along with purgatory and the assumption of mary. Doubtless those who are closer to god than me will contradict.

ludwig //Are they destined for eternal limbo///
I think they have a class action in the United Nations to demand their human rights.

Answer is very simple but many would not accept it because it is not something they like to see or hear. If you (or anyone else) believe that salvation was only through Jesus (pbuh) then you are spot on in thinking and mentioning what you did. However as a Muslim we believe that first human on this planet was Adam (pbuh) and he was also a prophet and therefore prophets have always been there. Muslims believe that there were roughly 124K messengers and prophets first being Adam (pbuh) and last being Muhammad (pbuh). Only difference is that the message given to all of the Prophets before Muhammad was just for that time. For that very reason you will not find any book or original message or teachings from those messengers. Now to answer your question, anyone who believed and acted upon the teachings of any of those the prophets during their time will have so called salvation as all of those prophets gave exactly the same BASIC message about worshiping only one God. Therefore it does not matter when you were born.

Don't think I'll manage eternal Limbo, not with my back.
|
|
Keyplus, I don't think you've understood the question. As far as I can see it relates to those who have never received 'the message' at all - and believe it or not, there are many.

I mean really douglas , how low can you go ?

Jeremy Kyle's my limit Marty.

Not surprised your back's bad Douglas. His show is enough to give anyone a pain in the bum! ;o)

People who never got the chance were probably better off.
|
|
Why don't all the other people who were contemporaneous with Adam get a mention (other than a passing one)in genesis?
|
|
The correct way to behave in order to get to heaven is to lead as good a life as possible. What religion you follow really isn't that important. I believe that quite a few agnostics and atheists are in for a pleasant surprise, too.
