Atheist? Go Directly to Jail, Do not pass go.....

So, it would seem that in Indonesia, posting that you are an atheist , that god does not exist, and some cartoons of muhammed "causes anxiety in religious communities", and is effectively "religious hatred".

Glad I am that i do not live in Indonesia....

Religions - so weak they need to pass laws to prohibit freedom of speech and thought.....

I particularly like the idea that an atheist 'tarnished islam' when islam tarnishes itself.
I don't think they jailed him for being an atheist.
"he shared comic strips of the prophet having sex with his servant".

I'm an atheist, and I've probably offended a few Christians on here. However, posting stuff purely with the intention of offending seems a bit OTT to me.
Whatever he's done, this smacks of 'thought police'. These people need to get over themselves and realise that the world does not revolve around them and their potty philosophy.
i was watching a news item on tv recently. it was only a snippet
the local police were arresting young people for showing affection in public. We are not talking about having sex in the open, but an arm around the shoulder, a peck on the cheek to a girlfriend, or boyfriend. They led one young man away to jail. This was supposed to be in the name of their religion, and that young people must not make any kind of display of affection. I found it very disturbing and reminds me of this post. This was also in Indonesia, do they have something against people having a life.
I don’t think they have anything against people having a life – as long as it’s the life the religious say they must live. Despite having sold over 50,000 tickets, Lady Gaga’s Jakarta concert was cancelled due to threats by Muslim hardliners – and Christians in other parts of Asia have had something to say about her concerts too.
