Without the concept that by worshiping an invisible man in the sky, people can somehow avoid the inevitable, religion would be surplus to requirements.

We're all going to die eventually, we won't know anything about it, so what's the problem?

Jomifl, of course, I should have put, 'I hope a place in Heaven awaits me.'
Sometimes, when exhausted from fighting the good fight, I imagine my hopes to be reality.
I hope, too, you will agree with me, and Pope, that: To err is human:to forgive, dvine.
Hi Sandy, I must say I'm relieved to hear that you will be with us in body for a little longer. I would suggest that erring is not only a mortal propensity but 'made in his image' explains a lot. }:-)
ive yet to see an atheist die for their cause
I've yet to see a christian put himself in harm's way to jump the queue.
knights Templar to start with
If we are going back that far how about JC himself. The pope didn't take too kindly to being shot, bit of a clue there.
what, lol did you expect him to jump for joy like?
Difficult if you've just been shot but a little 'divine intervention' might have helped. A little suffering is good for the soul though (allegedly)
he survived it didn't he? , what did you want, god, jesus, sinbad, to jump in front of the bullet?
A thunderbolt falling on the gunman may have helped!!
would it?
just maybe... just a shot in the dark ha ha ha.. maybe god is no a catholic
>>he survived it didn't he?<< yes thanks to science, and medical practitioners! if it was left to divine intervention do you think he would have survived?

Not a hope!!
god made the scientists and doctors tho' so it was a divine intervention, so there you go
:)
God doesn't make assassins? ah that will be the work satan undoubtedly.
can't see why god wouldn't make assassins, but give satan the credit if you wish... i'm sure god wont mind
It's the pain and the process of dieing that is frightening isn't it. If it was quick and painless the fear would not be there. I am afraid of the process not the actual death.
why should an aetheist die for his/her cause, steg? There is no cause. They may die for other things that they value, such as political freedom.
well they seem to preach against religion, try and tell people there is no god in fact they seem more fanatical than the religious people, especially on here.
that to me seems to be a cause, or a bee in their bonnet, you can choose
As in,,, empty vessels make the most noise. The authority in which our unbelievers state their belief in the unknown is quite amazing..... or laughable really, puffed up nonsense.
