Boxing Day is the first weekday after Christmas day - ie this year falls on Monday 27th December. Does this upset your theory?

Er, no ansteyg, Boxing Day is the first weekday after Christmas day, (dictionary definition) which of course very often is the 26th, but not this year! Christmas Day is the immovable one. These rules were put in place before bank holidays, so nowadays we have extra bank holidays to even it all up. With shops opening on the 26th it's all a bit academic anyway.
No, Solarjunkie, Boxing Day has always been 26th December, regardless of what day of the week it is.  Anybody who thinks otherwise should have custard squirted into their ears.

"Boxing Day is a holiday observed in many European and Commonwealth countries on 26 December."
