Is this a good David and Goliath story?

Three years ago I noticed that my local pharmacy (then Alliance) was selling magnetic bracelets. I wrote to the manager, pointing out that I would expect a shop up the road called Beyond The Senses to sell such things since they also peddle magic crystals, tarot cards, psychic sessions and the like, but such quackery was hardly the thing for a responsible pharmacy. I received no reply.
When Boots took over Alliance I started again with their big chief of pharmceuticals at their Nottingham HQ. He never deigned to answer me himself but passed me to a succession of staff members who, over a year or more, tried in turn to fob me off. I contacted The British Pharmaceutical Association who told me their retailing rules and the MHRA to ask whether the ludicrous medical claims made by the manufacturers of these bracelets were in breach of the law. After a long wait they said that the result of their investigation had, by EU edict, to remain confidential!
I was about to reply to that nonsense when…
…out of the blue came a letter from Boots saying that in view of the manufacturer’s claims they were withdrawing the bracelets from sale once present stocks had expired. So I had won!
To those tempted to tell me to get a life and get out more, please don’t bother. And to the inevitable question as to whether I am now going to tackle homeopathy and the like, I say – only if my doctor’s surgery or my local chemist starts to promote such charlatanism. It is one thing for the quacks themselves to con the gullible, quite another for the medical and pharmaceutical professions to do so.
I now sit back and await your plaudits, your congratulations, your gasps of admiration, your offers to have my baby, and so on. But please don’t embarrass me by overdoing the hero-worship. I’m a shy person really.

I agree with you entirely...see my posts above, but that is not LazyGun,s point. He feels that now the Pharmacists, Boots in particular are "coming out of the woodwork" presenting themselves as the "Medics of the High St" so to speak, how ethical is it that they are selling products of no known medical value.

You deserve credit for standing up for something which you believe in, although it may well be that the line just isn't selling and they're just indulging you.

I don't understand why one person would need to feel so gleeful at trying to put people out of a job. If i had done what they claim to have fone i;d have kept my gob shut and my head down. Maybe they pkan a career in an employment agency. The more I have read about this the more I realise that this persaon chakka is bang out of order for trying to destroy people's jobs and therefore thier lives. It stinks

First of all I can’t understand who is David and who is Goliath. Then I had problem with my shoulder as I damaged it while playing cricket. Tried physiotherapy, pain killers, anti inflammatory, saw a specialist in the hospital but nothing worked. After suffering over 5 years someone told me about those copper bracelet that you see a lot of sportsmen wearing. Now its been on my wrist since late 2000. And guess what, pain has gone and my shoulder is as good as ever. Now call it placebo effect or any other effect but did work for me. I know main question is for magnetic bracelets and not copper but few people believe same about these too.
Dot – As for Chakka, I know what you are thinking but according to few here he is one of the intelligent ones. And he himself believes that too. And that is a sign of confidence. But I wonder if Chakka can find the scientist (and of course write a letter to him fro clarification)who pushed people into mystery of finding G Sp0t. Or perhaps new study is wrong. You never know do you?

I am sorry to deflate you,but I am 87, and agree with Teleph0ne and Sqad.
I have (in my long life) seen many dubious medical(and other) claims.
You may be pleased that (possibly personally) you had this product removed,but believe me there are hundreds of others out there,and many more quwuwing up to take it's place.
If people are gullible enough to pay good money for such things,let them,a fool and his money are easily parted.
Personally I have too many other important things in life to be getting on with than figting "will o the wisp" battles that benefit very few,apart from some people's egos.
