Are u saying he was just "made up" by man?
The quick answer (cue approbum) is that he is was and always has been, God created himself.
Chaos.
Ask Stephen Hawking, he will know. Might take a while to get an answer out of him though.

This question represents the basic flaw in the argument put forward by Theland and others on this site that since nothing comes from nothing the universe must have been created.

From which it follows that the creator must have been created...and the creator of the creator must have been created...and so ad infinitum, leaving you with an infinite recession of creators. All very unconvincing, not to say absurd.

We don't know how the universe came about and - as others have said - mankind created God, with about 2499 other deities listed in The Encyclopedia of Gods here on my shelf.
In my belief God is a force or a kind of energy which can't be created.
But that's just my opinion...
coccinelle, before trying to fathom what god is, wouldn't it be a good idea to show that he/she/it exists first?
Because until you have done that you have no obligation to analyse him/her/it scientifically.
if you ask a believer where God came from you get much the same answer as if you ask a scientist where the big bang came from: 'Errr.... the question is invalid, because by definition nothing existed before God/big bang.'

So basically there was nothing, then God created himself. He then decided to create light, sky, water and land, lights, stars, fish, birds, animals and humans. Genesis offers one such theory - God created everything, but Evolution is a theory and Big bang is a theory, I feel like Im going round in circles!

So apart from God, Big Bang and Evolution are there lots more theory's?

Chakka, as life exists therefore God exists and as I say God is the energy and force which creates life. I am not talking about God from the Bible, his name was Yaveh or Jehovah or whatever.
The question that who created God is illogical as is that my friend Tom gave birth to a child, can any one guess if it was a boy or a girl.

God has always been, is and will be when people who accept or reject his existence would be long gone like the others have.

You see

They all turn around and tell you that the idea of a Universe that was spontaneously created is nonsense and obviously there had to be a God to create it.

But when you ask this question then you get answers like God created himself, and that God is illogical and has always been.

And apparently this is not nonsense.
badnews, evolution is a theory (like all scientific principles) but one which makes so much sense and is backed by so much evidence that it is now a firm branch of science.
The Big Bang is a theory which science is still working on.

God is not a theory, merely a religious belief.

coccinelle, when you say that life exists therefore God exists what sort of strange logic are you using?

And you seem a little confused about your God.
JWYH (later Jaweh or Jehovah) was a minor god of southern Israel until the Jews became monotheistic and elected him to be their only 'God'. He was later also adopted by Christians and others. He is your God of the bible.
I don't know who you are chakka but I don't use a 'strange logic' and I am not 'a little confused' and 'my god' is certainly not the one from the Bible.
Sorry badnews just wanted to make my point to chakka!
