Is this a veiled threat from the Muslim community in this country of what could take place unless our politicians took firm action over the Israelis actions in Gaza?

These comments were made by the justice minister, Shahid Malik, the first Muslim to be made a minister in any British government.

Also Pola Uddin, a Labour peer, said that some Muslims had been hitherto disappointed in the profile of Muslim parliamentarians. Uddin, who had been abroad monitoring elections in Bangladesh.

Are these at least two reasons why it could be dangerous for an increase of Muslims in positions of power?

What was Baroness Uddin doing out in Bangladesh monitoring their elections anyway?

I would have thought that the fact there was one less Muslim in the country would have gladdened your heart, AOG.
Not a threat from Milik as he is dissappointed at the reaction.

However we should not be surprised by this. The Muslim community continually show themselves to be a bunch of intolerant war mongers despite accusing others of being the same. Noo Labour have constantly pampered to them instead of taking the stance this is the UK if you dont like it b*gger off.

If anyone is at fault it is Noo Labour for encouraging this and giving Musilms the feeling that if they shout and threaten they will get their own way even though they are a tiny majority.
It might be a threat to Isreal, but I assume you mean is this a threat to our country. It isn't.

There is a sense of helplessness in Muslims all over the world seeing their creed under attack in Gaza. It may lead to some fanatical muslims going to the middle east to fight with the Palestinians, not them fighting here.

These two and Conservative shadow security minister, Pauline Neville-Jones, who said she was concerned at the effect the conflict was having on radicalism in the wider Arab world are not threatening us, they are warning that this conflict will recruit people prepared to fight for a cause they believe in.

AOG: Don't shoot the messenger.

How long before you and your like are going to see that we are being constantly hood-winked to appease the Muslims of this country, with such words as "the vast majority of our Muslims are patriotic and peace loving" Yeh!

Rose tinted specs on once again, haven't you heard that there is increasing threat of terrorist attacks to us from our own young muslims.

If they in their warped minds consider that the UK is in anyway supporting the Jews, then why would they bother to go over to Palestine?

Does it need a bomb underneath you Gromit to blow off those rose tinted specs?

It annoys me that Britain because of its more tolerant society these troublemakers see fit to cause trouble here and cause a 1 million expenditure in our finances. The Foreign Office has obviously much sympathy for the Gaza population and is offering aid. Why don't they either protest at the US or the UN embassy in NY which supplies most of the hardware and encouragement. Asking us to take up arms against Israel is totally lunatic.
I'm biased, but as a comparison, as the Middle East is the topic, I don'r think i've hears of any home grown Jewish terrorist over here, or pressure on our goverment by Jewish parlamentarians to be one sided, (there may be, but i've not heard of it).

Even the most dimmest muslim knows that the UK supports Israel and always has. They have always known the UK was instrumental in the creation of the State of Israel. It is not news to them, they have known for 60 years.

AOG - I would rather have rose tinted specs than to live in constant fear like you apparently do.

You can try till your blue in the face but you will not convince the likes of the cleric GROMMIT that the muslims in our country are a threat.. I have read his preachings for the past couple of years and cant make my mind up if he just does it to wind people up or, he really is a blinkered fool.
....or an eternal optimist!

As I look ahead, I am filled with foreboding; like the Roman, I seem to see "the River Tiber foaming with much blood". That tragic and intractable phenomenon which we watch with horror on the other side of the Atlantic but which there is interwoven with the history and existence of the States itself, is coming upon us here by our own volition and our own neglect. Indeed, it has all but come. In numerical terms, it will be of American proportions long before the end of the century.

Well, long before the end of the century has long since come and gone, and yet the followers of the Prophet Enoch are still waiting. More than forty years after the prediction and still his acolytes are peddling the same mantra, beware of Johnny foreigner, he will turn and kill us all.

It was boll0cks then, and it is boll0cks now.
There was an interesting point made in a recent letter to the Economist: People are keen to point out the 'dangers' of Islam now, usually indicating areas where Muslims are most predominant demographically, but nobody seems to complain about the various 'Chinatowns' that have sprung up because they've just sort of become part of the scenery.

Again, throughout the country's political history, people have been saying exactly the same about a plethora of ethnic groups. Irish, Jews, Poles, Asians, Caribbean immigrants have all come under uncannily similar suspicion from the British public, whether simultaneously or at different points in history. Going back centuries before that, similar paranoia was directed towards Catholic immigrants, and by extension also Frenchmen. All of these have also 'receded'.

The point is that ethnic or cultural conflict- or whatever you want to call it - is nothing new and has time and time again been completely and utterly overblown. Personally, I've not seen anything to convince me that the current Muslim Terror is anything but the latest in a line of public boogeymen going back centuries.
Yes Gromit, but are they trying to exert undue pressure?, (if yes, then please post a link) plus one other thing, Jews in this country are peace loving, in services always re-affirm their loyalty to the Queen and country, and have never expressed a wish to take over this country and make it Jewish, unlike another religion thats made its home here.

Lonnie

are they trying to exert undue pressure?

No, but thew muslim parliamentarians in the post were not trying to exert unde pressure which is what AOG was claiming.

There are plenty of Labour MPs actively campaigning pro Israel at the moment.

(Jewish people)) have never expressed a wish to take over this country and make it Jewish, unlike another religion thats made its home here.

It is often asserted by others, that the muslims want to take us over, but I would challenge you to find a link to a muslim expressing this wish. It is as groundless as the Nazis propaganda that the Jews were responsible for all of Germany's ills.

Jews in this country are peace loving, in services always re-affirm their loyalty to the Queen and country, and have never expressed a wish to take over this country and make it Jewish, unlike another religion thats made its home here.

But that didn't stop them coming under (very similar) suspicion from the public across Europe in the early C20/C19. As I said before, numerous immigrant groups have receded into the scenery who were 'prime suspects' earlier.

Perhaps 'ALL' is an over exaggeration, but hasn't he already had a good try?

WW2 Blitz, The IRA bombings, Pam Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, 7/7 London Bombings, and many other attempts that have been thwarted.

It is often asserted by others, that the muslims want to take us over, but I would challenge you to find a link to a muslim expressing this wish

I don't know where you have been, but there has been many in this country expressing a wish or calling for the take over of the West, most are now in Jail.

The following is a good warning.

I do love pompous, overblown laguage.

"In your action lies your future wellbeing. So, do not hesitate nor procrastinate; rather, act quickly, if you want to save yourselves and your progeny from the evil designs of the Muslims. But should you choose to ignore this advice, and you or your progeny become the victim of the Muslims, in that event, you would have none to blame but yourselves for the plight and sufferings that are in store for you and your descendants."

It works better if you imagine Darth Vadar reading it aloud.
I've had a long day at work and the GROMMITS still rambling. You seem to enjoy
My grandson touched my PC, apologies. I will finnish.
Grommit enjoys quoting extracts from other peoples speaches, here's one I bet he hasn't heard.
"I HAVE BEEN VICTORIOUS THROUGH TERROR"
who said it? Muhammed, founder of Islam!
