Why is it that the above items only appear to be associated with the Fair Industry. When Hull Fair comes every October, these items are sold on stalls along with coconuts and in large quantities. When the Fair leaves, no one holds them as stock items. Why?

In a Pickle. You were lucky, all the toffee apples I ever had were soft and pappy, yuk!! I loved the toffee.

I loved Candyfloss but tried it again a few years ago - I hated it. How our tastes change.

If you look down this article
http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/in_season/december.s html#pomegranate
you will see that pomegranates are in season early to mid winter. When I was a child we used to eat them at Hallowe'en, picking the seeds out with pins. They are available in the shops and supermarkets at this time of year, I saw some for sale last week.
Pomegranetes seem to be year-round...my local Sainsbury's always has them. And the apples in toffee apples are probably so sour to avoid sugar overdose-lol
