Top Gear....

....has been rapped over the knuckles because Clarkson and May were seen having a G&T in the cab of their pick-up in the Polar Special.

It follows a complaint from a viewer that it was 'grossly irresponsible'.

Well, 'a viewer' I suggest you get a life you sad sad sad miserable old git.

This was an entertainment programme, they were not drunk and they were doing nothing illegal.

Don't you just hate twits like 'a viewer'?

Also, there was one complaint fer christs sake - out of millions of viewers - doesn't this suggest 'a viewer' was a tad too sensitive? Perhaps he should stick to Cbeebies, I'm sure there's nothing there that can offend him - and why would the BBC pander to one complainant?

That is without a doubt one of my favourite bits of telly ever, I even managed to feel sympathy for the hamster which I usually find difficult to do on account that I'm usually trying to expalin to someone why I think he looks the cat from Shrek 2.

I guess the BBC had to be seen to be doing something but I think it's a bit harsh. I'm guessing there's not many road safety laws been made in the North Pole and that the ice was likely to do more damage to them than the glass of G&T ever could. I don't think the BBC could justifly claiming it's a bad influence on viewers as I've yet to any middle aged men with dubious fashion sense sitting together in a pub discussing how they'd go about booking a scenic road trip of the norht pole and if they'd get more money off if they did their own driving.

That is utterly utterly irrelevant Mr Veritas - driving whilst drunk on a road cannot even remotely be compared to having one drink in a deserted place like the North Pole, which are classed as international waters.

Ridiculous.

I hear what you are saying flip, and I agree. However, I also see Veritas' point: Most people watching Top Gear aren't going to BE driving in the North Pole. So their driving experience is on roads, here in the UK.

Despite knowing that I wouldn't watch a show and then follow the image it's promoting, there is the potential for such a show to influence other people.

It's the balance, I suppose.

R1Geezer, you are just the sort of level-headed, mature, balanced, articulate, responsible personality that we need on our roads.
Would you mind telling us your car registration number so that, when we see you, we can give you a wide ber--- er -- give you a cheery wave?
