I remember once watching a documentary about this. It was harrowing. I think if they have another child they have to pay a massive fine, and as they can't afford it they just abandon the babies in the street and leave them to die. Really awful.

Do they allow abortion in China?

Dumping them in the street is highlighted by the media but probably doesn't happen more than in western society.
Whether you like the one child policy or not, something has to be done to control the burgeoning population. It is a lot better than the miserable life the many millions of hungry Africans have.

Yes, unfortunately abortion is becoming a widely accepted form of contraception.

If you are from an ethnic minority the 1 child rule does'nt apply, there are also other exemptions such as disabity. There is a fine to pay if you have more than 1 child but the amount is negotiable. Abortion is legal in China.
Religious expression is allowed (within reason) there is a Catholic Church of China but it's independent of Rome, I don't rightly know what would happen if you had lots of children regardless.

"They" who is this this they?
Is it your suggestion that the Chinese are nation hell bent on some anti oestregen holocaust? I can't deny infanticide happens in the world but I don't think it is to the extent that the press would have you believe, I could produce a documentary about Man Utd supporters clubs across the U.K does that mean we're all Mancs?
If you go to China, if you watch programmes about China what you will witness is 1000s of girls living perfectly normal lives.
The modern Chinese state came into being in 1949 it's come a long way in a short time. Compare China with her neighbours and beyond, from bankruptcy borne from civil war and imperialism to the 4th strongest economy in the world (less than 60 years) travel to Africa, India, Pakistan there are nations there that have existed in their current form for the same lenghth of time, who do you think is better off overall?
Look at the Philipines children living on waste dumps, you don't get that in China, what's Thailand famous for?
China's not perfect but they're doing alright, their policy revolves around raising one child well, rather than our policy of raising scores badly.
