Absolutely, isn't that what VSO is though? I'd rather go on holiday for a year oversees once in 10 years than go 10 times for a couple of weeks at a time over ten years Octavious, much kinder on the environment and if you can save a bit of money and feel you've done something worthwhile then so be it!

Depends what you class as a holiday! I'm keen to do something overseas but I'm not signing up to anything till I'm out of debt so that I can come back with a clean slate! I think this thing is for stuff over here, you log what skills you've got and then I think folk get in touch and ask if you're up for lending a hand for a wee bit of food, banter and teaching you new skills too. Free education and free food for free labour sounds too good to miss if you've got nothing better to do! Beats working for a living if you've got the means! They've even got a place to share land if you've got some....

Ah, you see I've moved on a bit since my globe-trotting back packing days. A holiday to me now means switching off from anything to do with - or that requires - work.

As in life as in business, no such thing as a free lunch!
