no bazille i use variety of cash machines, they are all connected centrally and have access to what you already have done so it would be a simple change to implement.

yeah and what dopes it say after that ummm? on that machine it says:

would you like to see a balance? yada yada
Keep your folding in your mattress Tora - less faffing about standing in front of a computer , pressing buttons
They do vary, it's true - some ask if you want a balance or a receipt, and so on, some just cut to the chase and cough up the money.

I suppose they have to try and be a service for everyone, and different people want different things.

Have you made a standing order for your yearly subscription to the
LABOUR PARTY,? it may be automatic renewal? .
Can't believe that anyone is so busy as to need the suggested facility, impatient yes but busy no - not being contentious TTT but chill out a bit.
There are those amomst us who remember the days when you could only withdraw cash from your own branch of your own bank unless you made prior arrangement. Having to press a few buttons to withdraw cash anywhere in the world seems to be a great advance.
Not to encourage you TTT, but I like the HSBC ones where you don't have to press enter after your pin - you just enter the number. Saves me a button press.
Who uses cash machines much these days anyway?

I use a contactless card to pay for a pint in the pub, for my rail ticket to get there and for nearly all my shopping. If I do find that I might need some cash I simply use the cashback facility in my local Co-op (or in Asda, in a Wetherspoon's pub etc, etc) to obtain it. I hardly ever use a cash machine.
Well, I use cash machines....never use cash-back in a shop and never use contactless to pay for goods at a counter - only at Waitrose's Self-Scan till. So...we're all different!
3T, I sympathise to a point, but what about when you want to communicate with someone and the only option they offer is either by SMS (i.e. you are required to buy a mobile phone, take out an agreement, etc.) or else through a third party (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) - why not by e-mail or landline ?
Cash is nearly dead.

Fly into Charleroi Airport and try to get transport into Brussels using cash, for example. You can't; you can only pay by card.

Closer to home, you can use a contactless card to pay your fare on a London bus but they don't accept cash.
My goodness it takes a few seconds.
Agree Prudie and it takes a second to say goodbye. Or push the button or even pull the plug.
