Live like the French? mmmm. Does that mean that the men have to take mistresses and the women have to accept it?
You think that women don't take their gigolos...of course they do. The woman who lived in a gorgeous house across the road from me in St.Germain-en-Laye had plenty of lovers and wasn't that discreet about it, parading around in the bedroom in the nud or (I assume) French lingerie.
There's a lot to be said for what he's saying.
Hardly the great moral country then!

Of course there is Naomi!

What have morals got to do with it?
A man with the guts to say what everybody thinks, good on you Nicolas, you have a lot of backbone.
How can you dictate how others should live if your own morals are in the gutter?
Think what he says is reasonable enough
If the French populace vote him in on the strength of promising to make all immigrants French, then they're as deluded as he is. Another example of a politician telling potential voters what they want to hear, without one shred of 'modus operandi' being mentioned.
Islay, why do you think he's wrong?
Nicolas Sarkozy or Marine Le Pen, for French President

Donald Trump for US President

Norbert Hofer for Austrian President

Frauke Petry for Germany's Chancellor.

Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Times could become interesting.

^ not forgetting Wilders!

A certain religion tries to do the same all the time.
c'est la vie.

the French have always been conscious of their culture being eroded by others - although it was usually anglo-saxon doing the eroding, as promulgated by the immense consumerist power of the USA.

thus whilst in 99% of the world, the word for an electronic processing machine is "computer", in France it's "ordinateur".

Morals are only related to the people who want to abide by them. French morals are different to ours. So what?

It has nothing at all to do with wanting others coming to your country and refusing to adopt your culture (and you morals)
Well said Young.
I got quite a lot of flak on here once for posting that when we lived in France we made a point of speaking French to each other when in public and that, equally, people who lived in Britain should speak English. I know, from experience, how upsetting it is to the native people and how difficult they find it. As it is, France does not translate official documents, it is up to you to either a) understand them or b) employ a translator. I have dealt with French tax systems, utilities, local government, medical establishments etc.. ALL had to be done in French.

Britain is wasting a fortune in translation services and publications. All official forms should be in English.

Sarkozy is a politician first and foremost. His only hope of power is to outdo Marine le Pen, but from a more 'respectable' political background That is why he is finally telling these truths. We need to do the same.
Jourdain > Britain is wasting a fortune in translation services and publications. All official forms should be in English.

I worked at one company that prided itself on its 'accessibility' and 'equality and diversity'. Loads of policies and procedures that were available printed in any language. Any interviews or phone calls could be sorted with a translation service.

An idea to make available tenancy agreements to foreigners was scrapped due to cost!! The one important document, making sure that tenants understood fully and abided by the terms of their contract, was issued solely in English.

More power to his Elba!
AOG I felt last week that Trump would win - I am now fairly certain of it.
