Husbands of ladies awarded Dame-hoods don't get titles do they?

Wonder why it works one way and not the other.
That's one of the reason that it's called bi-sexuality....both ways - including titles.

Correctly he should be called Lady John, which has a sniggerworthy ring to it.
If David is the husband then surely Elton's knighthood should be rescinded and he should be awarded a damehood instead !

My heart bleeds for him. Life is so unfair. Maybe the solution is to scrap these titles altogether.

I hope David Furnish has a point. If not, then he should be titled Lady.
It occurs to me the Elton has been described as being a bit of a diva in the past so maybe change his awarded title to Lady Elton and then David would no longer have a problem.
Technically, OG, it would be Dame John, Lady is reserved for the spouse of a Sir - and there's nowt for the spouse of a Dame.
