I don't often use my iPhone. In fact, frankly, I only have one to stop the people at the phone shop pestering me.

But I'm having a play.

I've got a short clip of music on the phone.

Can I use it as a ringtone?

And if so ... how do I do it?

It's possible but perhaps not as easily as you might think.

If your music is more than 30 seconds long you'll first have cut it down to 30 seconds or less.

Then you'll need to change the file type, so that your phone will see it as a ringtone, rather than as a music file.

Next you'll need to import it into iTunes, sync it with your iPhone and finally set it as your preferred ringtone.

There are plenty of apps that can also do the trick for you, just have a browse in the App Store.

It would have to be complicated, wouldn't it.
It isn't with the apps, they're pretty user friendly.
iOS 5 or iOS 8?
