On these pages we regularly see people who are perceived to lead privileged lives described as ‘toffs’ or 'posh boys', with no offence taken, but I can't recall seeing such blanket expressions used for people who are not perceived to live privileged lives. Is there an acceptable term for them?

Blackadder, I realise the terms are intended to be derogatory, but the point is no one takes offence so the intended slight has no effect. (I used ‘posh boy’ because someone’s said it tonight on another thread. It could just as well be ‘girl’).
i like posh boys !!
Some might take offence at the expression: "UKIP scum".

Proletarian is a word that describes the workers who have no wealth. Over the last few years I have heard people describe themselves as 'prolets' to say that they have no money.
At the other end of the spectrum it would be 'chav'. 'Middle class' for the rest, probably.
@rsols maybe Naomi? I have come across a few in my day's including my So Called Brother.
I can't think of one that covers every one else as there are too many layers between top and bottom. I can't bring myself to lump chavs and the middle and working classes into one group. But to answer "What is the opposite to a Toff it has to be a Chav I would think.
And BTW I hate the sneering tone implicit in both Toff and Posh Boys.
Pleb?
King kole

Scruffs, underclass, riff-raff,
Do you really think everyone who isn't a toff is a scruff or riffraff andres?
Workies?
What has your politics got to do with whether your a toff or not? BTW my OH is a UKIP supporter....
Low - life.
I don't think we have to cover all with both terms LB. More looking at opposite ends of a spectrum.
Proles? Plebs? Chavs? Hoi polloi ?
