//n defence of the charge that Islam is sexist, you talk about the size of the muslim religion and the number of female adherents. But those female adherents, like their male counterparts, are brought up in the faith. They are brought up to be devout, to be faithful, to obey the tenets of lslam. //

my god, if anything, you are speaking nonsence. See how many converts in britain there are than maybe in another thread you can get back to me.
I see, crisgel :-)
Lightbulb, and most of the converts are females who have fallen for Muslim men. It isn’t the religion that attracts them – it’s the man – and the same applies to Jewish converts, Buddhist converts, Christian converts - or to any other converts! Stop kidding yourself!

For someone who cares so little about what we think, you do bang on. ;o)
@Lightbulb You really are not thinking this through.

What is the global population of muslims?
Where, globally speaking, are the vast majority of muslims located?

In comparison to the number of muslim men who are married to muslim females, the number of converts is teeny-tiny, almost insignificant. And this topic has been covered before, exhaustively. You cannot claim a defence for Islam that it is not sexist because there are non-muslim female converts; their own cultural conditioning will play a part,or they may genuinely have no idea what they are letting themselves in for, or the muslim men they marry have adapted to different social norms as a consequence of exposure to a different culture.

Objectively speaking, all the abrahamic religions have commandments which are sexist. If you follow those tenets and support them, that logically makes you a sexist.

Cultural conditioning is very difficult to break and the cycle tends to continue
My father converted to catholicism 15yrs after marrying my mother in a CofE church. He did it so they could get remarried in a catholic ceremony to please my mother who was devout.
He had no interest whatsoever in religion before or after converting.

naomi, you really believe i am a female?
Lightbulb, your wife converted because she married you. Had you been Jewish she would have been humming Hava Nagila now. Love is blind!
Question Author
god, where the hell did that idea come from?
Lightbulb, I didn't say you're female. Someone else thought you were. Nothing to do with me.
What idea?
Question Author
naomi, what the hell do you know of my wife. She converted because she was genuinely interested. She was Christian. If she wanted to, she did not have to convert, jews also do not have to convert. She converted out of choice. i would have still married her is she wanted to stay the same religion.

My friend converted to Judasim when she married a Jewish man, so that their children could be Jewish.
I know what you've told me. She didn't seek Islam out by herself did she? She wasn't Muslim when she met you.
Mine too Boxy.
Question Author
and she did not have to be naomi. She could have stayed christian. I let her decide. Sh researched islam, she liked what she saw and accepted. simple as. She did not have to be muslim. she chose to of her own free will.
Question Author
