Just caught the last bit of a program about a guy who made multiple trips to the USA, Bought guns legally and brought them back in his luggage, as many as 6-10 at a time, and sold them in Liverpool. Its estimated about 55 are unaccounted for. How could he smuggle so many at a time without them being detected. Even hold luggage is screened?

No idea - thats a really frightening prospect, for sure. Would you happen to have a link to the story anywhere? I would quite like to read more....
ty for the link sirprise - watching it now....
You're welcome
I have not seen the program but I have to say I do not believe anyone could smuggle 6 to 10 guns in a suitcase that comes from the US to UK.

And as for doing it over and over again I find very unlikely.
I was pretty sceptical too VHG, but the assertions as presented in this article do look as if they are backed up by evidence.

"Security staff at Raleigh-Durham airport in North Carolina found a cache of 16 weapons in his luggage when he was stopped while in transit on 25 July 2010".
looks like an old story (but still surprising)
