Why Respect Authority?

Respect for authority does not always come easily to us. Do you sometimes find it difficult to respect those who have a measure of authority over you? If so, you are not alone in this struggle. We live at a time when respect for authority seems to be at an all-time low. Yet, the Bible says that we need to show respect for those who hold positions of authority over us.

Elderman //Common sense evidently requires that we use thinking ability. some people would rather let others do their thinking for them.//

That is exactly true. Some people like yourself prefer to let stoneage goat herders do the thinking.

O well you make the world like is.
if you want to deny the existence of God and say the world has no meaning merely because you want it that way, does this change the facts? no any who think so are rather like a little boy who wants to hide, so he covers his eyes with his hands. He thinks that because he cannot see, no one can see him! so to say that God does not exist merely because we refuse to acknowledge his existence.

Someone else has said it, but it seems very certain to me that Elderman = Spreading. Same use of nonsense verse, same refusal to engage with the arguments made, and same desire to get the last post / word.
Yeah I think it's spreading- and I wish it would stop:(
Elderman, //if you want to deny the existence of God and say the world has no meaning merely because you want it that way, does this change the facts? //

What facts? There are no facts. The bible carries not one jot of verifiable evidence for the existence of God.

Your God wasn't omnipresent, neither was he omniscient because he made mistakes. The bible tells us all of that - so how can he be the almighty God?

If anyone is covering his eyes it's you. Read your bible - and try reading the bits you don't like too.

Those who ignore the facts and delude themselves with fancy are like the proverbial ostrich that hides his head in the sand when danger nears. However, the realist recognizes that such ostrich exists in fables only, not in fact!
It ain't necessarily so....

Elderman, I'll ask you again. What facts?
Question Author
Well atheist are like parrots rather than taking time to examine the facts.”

facts, yet it is silent on many vital questions. From where did we come from ? Why are we here? Where do we go? What is the mystery of life, how did it get started and what keeps it going? How did this wonderful natural world with all its variety in earth, sea and sky come into existence? Where did this thing called “sin,” together with imperfection and error, come from? Why is it that the human organism, which shows every possibility of being kept livefor eternity, dies? Why is there all this world confusion and strife? What is the destiny of the earth? Nature cannot answer these questions. Nor can man answer these out of his human experiences. How, then, can he get the truth in answer to these ? The only way is for man to get such truth from a reliable source. But not a atheist
what drivel! sorry Elderman, but this is Bible bashing at its best
Elderman, so where are these facts you speak of?

Non existent, a bit like the proof you were asked to provide?

Just because we don't have all the answers to life, it doesn't mean we need to believe in any God, we would rather believe in reality.
Elderman, you have asked a lot of questions, since when does asking a question prove something ?There, I've asked a question, what have I proved ?
Question Author
No you don't have the answers do you and you never will.
this is a typical
"I am right and you are all wrong" scenario
Maybe we will never have the correct answers, this does not mean we will be forced into believing this silly nonsense of the invisible man in the sky.

Give it up Elderman, you are convincing no one! lol
I consider myself a Christian, I don't need to go to Church to prove this but have someone like you "Bible bashing" does absolutely bugger all for Christianity !
Well said Bobbisox, it is certainly more irritating than convincing.
My generation was always brought up to respect their parents, elders and people in authority ...........sadly that is why society has gone wrong now, I hate to hear cheeky mouthy children and young people.
It annoys me RATTER, the Holier than thou and pompous 'spouting' of the Bible, I suggest Elderman talks in English rather than quoting passages from the Bible all the time !
