Changing your name by Deed poll - easy or hard!?

Hiya. Wasn't sure where to post this question so here goes anyway! I really want to change my surname {it's horrible and I might be joining the army....}. Could anyone help me and give some advice on how easy or hard it is to do? I think you can do it quite simply online but I'm worried about changing driving license, passport, bank details etc......
I'd really appreciate any help on this.
Thank-you

Thanks....but I wanted some people who have experience really! That site doesn't tell you the nitty gritty.
Hiya

I changed my first name online by deed poll and found everything to be really really easy with all the official bodies. Most places will require a copy of your deed poll certificate as well as your orginal birth certificate when you notify them of your new name.
You can get the deed done easily enough, many online sites and pretty cheap for a solicitor to do.

You should be able to change documents on production of the deed.

Make a list of all things you would need to change and check with each as to their requirements, especially whether they will need to see an original, certified copy or whether a mere copy will suffice.

Obviously, you can't sent the original to more than one person at one time so make sure you prioritise the list and keep a certified copy you have to hand in the meantime.

Do you have any specific questions?

I am just worred about the pasport and driving license thing more than anything else really - and whether or not it is a further cost as well.
Dunno about your driving lisence, as I dont drive, but yes- your passport renewal will cost you.

I know you didn't seem interested, but I strongly suggest you do read that link that snagged posted. It will answer any questions about this process that you may have.
Also... beware you will be charged 'by the letter' for your new name change.

Which is why ^^ went for BOO.

Tight arse ;-))
No you're not Snagged- least I wasnt. I was charged a flat rate of 34.00 for the name change.

By the letter? Give over! :P
I was bl00dy joking!!!
oh rofl- sowwy :-(
