That's too vague to be answerable.

Or knock on a few doors and ask if anyone knows her.

I guess you know her surname? Can you phone directory enquiries or find an online phonebook?

I know of an Ontario in New York State and another in California, but as far as I know Canada's Ontario is a state, so I think you're still short of enough info to send this letter.

Canada is an enormous country and the province of Ontario covers an area much bigger than the whole of England. You would need to know at least which town your friend lives in before you start your search.

reidy73 - why not make a huge placard with your friend name and pin it on your back.

does the sell dog breath?

Reidy; this might help:

http://www.411.infocanada.ca/canoe411/?lang=E& #xA0

Type in the person's last name, and then select each Province in turn. It's a little tedious, but you might get lucky!. I would select Ontario first (ON). Dont type in the first name because some people use their initials, or their middle name.

What I mean by the last sentence is that if you type in 'Mary Smith' for her name, you will not get a hit if she is listed in the book as 'M Smith'.

Yet another add-on! I should have mentioned that this method of tracing someone will not work if they do not have an ordinary (land-line) phone ,or if they do have one but their number is unlisted (ex-directory I think you call it).
